GloryDaze Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 So I'm pretty sure I have the OK for both- I was looking at two weekends: How about May 16,17,18 or possibly the wekend after Memorial Day? I have about a 6 hour drive to get near the river, so I would be interested in leaving early, early Friday morning and doing some floating that late afternoon and then on Saturday-- Any thoughts? chub minnow Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Just watch the water level. The Mulberry drops fast and if it is below 2 on the gauge it is a VERY slow trip. Add a headwind to the mix and it's tough to get anywhere. It's always hard to plan ahead for a Mulberry trip. Not many springs along the way, so if it doesn't rain you don't float.
ollie Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 Chub's right on with that analogy. It's one of those places you have to be ready to go at a drop of a hat if you live aways that is. It's 2 1/2 hours for me to get there. I want to go there in May, but who knows what the wether will be like. I think it will either be great or a blow out depending on whether or not it keeps raining! I might be up for a float on Big Sugar if it's not a blow out either. GloryDaze Posted April 24, 2008 Author Posted April 24, 2008 Being able to just pick up and go is almost impossible- I guess what I was referring to was would that date work for you Ollie and Russ just in case water conditions were right? If they were, then I would already have the weekend in my schedule and if the water wasn't good, maybe taking a look at the Big Sugar..... Sorry fellas if I sound neurotic, but I plan events for a living and it seems like all I do is plan in advance.... Maybe that's why I love being on the water so much because it gets me away from all the hustle. Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory
ollie Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 No problems glory. I'm just about the same way. Three kids still at home and a warden still make it hard for me at times also. See, I already have asked off for those dates with the purpose of having a good time out on the river somewhere! If the water is right, I plan on going to the Mulberry. If the water is good around here, I might want to stay closer to home with gas prices like they are. Don't worry, it will all work out in the end.
