Members KC Trout Fan Posted April 28, 2008 Members Posted April 28, 2008 What would you say the Max line size i would want to use on the rock right now and also in normal conditions?? I mainly use floro lines Psalm 16:8 I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
Trav Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I use 10# in all conditions. Just me. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
dtrs5kprs Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Depends on what you are doing. I did not catch a fish last week on line lighter than 15# big game or Seaguar. That was fishing the bank to about 6' in stained to muddy water, spinnerbaits and big plastics. Probably don't need to go under 8# for the finnesse work this year.
Members KC Trout Fan Posted April 29, 2008 Author Members Posted April 29, 2008 well how about cranks and jigs Psalm 16:8 I know the Lord is always with me. I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
motoman Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 8 lb fluoro for me works well. The passed few years I've used a Hi-Vis Superline/braid mainline, and then a 30' (yes, 30 feet)flouro leader. - Works great to see those subtle movements in the line, when a fish is slowly walking off with it; and you can't feel it. - Guido Hibdon caught onto it this year, and credits winning a $100,000 tournament with it. - (I've been doing it for years, sadly I can't take credit with telling him. )
dtrs5kprs Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Probably 8-12# for cranks, except square bills. 10-15# for jigs depending on size and where you want to put them. If the water stays dirty you will be able to "Trumanize" things for while longer.
MOBass Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 What would you say the Max line size i would want to use on the rock right now and also in normal conditions?? I mainly use floro lines I use 8-10# for the finess stuff right now, 10# for cranks, and 12# for everything else. I did get whupped up on by a big fish and that is what I get for taking a knife to a gun fight. I have a 2-3 week lay off of fishing so I'll wait to see what happens with the water. If it keeps some color I'll be re spooling the 12# for 15# or 17#.

focused fishing Posted April 30, 2008 Posted April 30, 2008 KC, Great area of the lake, directly across from Cow Creek good fishing year round. Of course the summer boat traffic is a nightmare....... Get out early or late and beat the big boat running, compensating for something, my boats bigger than yours boat owners or pray for rain. On second thought, don't pray for rain, we're good.
