Fishing Buddy Don House Posted May 3, 2008 Fishing Buddy Posted May 3, 2008 YEah, but its a big lake and surely you dont have to be vulgar.I have been cut off before as I tend to fish in water off the bank aways looking for beds, but I have never made a scene or scoffed at apparent ineptitude.Poss they where catching fish in the brush too, or they havent seen the lake at such high levels and dont know where the gravel bank really is.Shucks the person you scorned may have been someone who would teach you a great lesson or become a fast friend.Heck it might have even been me, but not likely cause any really really good fisherman like me would never fish in the brush.......... CrappieFisherman, your comments are why alot of really good guides and good fishermen don't post on sites like these! Why mess with type of BS comments! If that is the way a persons is I don't need a lesson or a fast friend! Got more than I need the night before a big tournament! What Bill did was very professional with his group. And what he said afterwards was right on the money don't think I would have handled it well at all. Tried of Road Rage Bass Fishing! Disappointed Capt. Don Capt. Tom Spence Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Bill gives the most/best info to all of us free of charge. The only way to beat it would be to hire him and spend the day in his boat. Calling someone num nuts for the kind of behavior they exhibited is more than called for and probably the best thing that can be said about soeone like that. If num nuts offends, you need to toughen up. Tom Spence Champion Boats http://championboats.com Luck E Strike USA http://martyconradfishing.com
focused fishing Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 Dang Crappie, You seem a bit too sensitive....... Anyway, had a similar deal on trip yesterday, a couple of guys pre-fishing for the pro-am ran in cut infront of us on a point we were working toward, fished the heck out of the trees the bushes everything. A couple of minutes later we got on the point and the young lady in my boat caught a 3# KY right behind their boat. As she held it up for a picture she yelled over "hey fellas, ya missed one!". Priceless....... WebFreeman Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 I think people beat the shore because they see it on fishing shows. Those shallow, southern lakes/private ponds that aren't more than 20 ft deep. I think crappie misread Bill's post. He didn't call they guy numbnuts to this face. He didn't do anything but catch a fish out from under his boat. And numbnuts isn't vulgar, derogatory, but not vulgar. Here's the definition: Main Entry: numbnuts Part of Speech: noun Definition: an idiot Etymology: 1970 Usage: derogatory slang “Many go fishing all their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after.” — Henry David Thoreau Visit my web site @ webfreeman.com for information on freelance web design.
Gary Lange Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 I for one do fully appreciate the contributions from the Guides that post on this site. The information that they provide is indispensable for the average angler and has helped me learn to fish the big lake after spending about 10 years wading the rivers of Illinois. I do hope that this incident does not sour th Guides and stop them from giving us this much needed and appreciated information. What the guy did was not right and what Bill did was very professional. He handled it in a way we all should by just ignoring them other then catching a fish from in front of there boat. Hand they themselves been more professional they most likely could have stopped and asked Bill what he was doing and he would have given them some tips on catching a few Bass. I will be out Monday at the crack of Dawn to use the information gained from Bill Don and Eric with the intention of getting my thumb all scuffed up and raw from holding the fish while removing the hook. I thank you all for your contributions to this site and wish you all well at your chosen profession. I never in a thousand years expected to get this kind of information from a group of guides who depend on this information for there living. Thank You again and may God Bless you with extra fish next week. Respect your Environment and others right to use it!
Bill Babler Posted May 4, 2008 Author Posted May 4, 2008 Gosh!!!! What a Firestorm I created trying to give a few tips on where and how to fish. Crappie, I truely and sincerely apoligize for offending you and any other reader that would deem that silly little comment to be Vulgar. Me and the buds kind of use it as a term for a bone headed move. but then I guess, using the word bone could also be construed as vulger. If you knew me, you would know that I am not, nor have ever been construed as vulger. Please excuse my simple ways. When the fisherman cut in front of me to fish the bank, I could have easily cast into his boat, he was so close. One of my clients a non-fisherman, looked at me and said" I don't fish much, but was that not the rudest manuver you have ever seen?" Crappie, I think your right. I should have deemed the guy, just not to be in the know about such things, and just pulled up my trolling motor and left the area. That would have been the correct thing to do. I'll think before I act next time. Great day on the water today. Don't want to stick my big foot in my mouth, so instead of the report on how we did it and where I'll just keep my mouth shut. Thanks guys, Love you all. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members KansasBoy13 Posted May 4, 2008 Members Posted May 4, 2008 I've personally never met Bill or even seen him out on the water but from what I've read of his on here he is soooo much more professional and even mature in situations that I would have lost my mind. I salute you on handling it that way...catching the fish right in front of him after what he did is priceless. I still dont see how anyone gets off doing what he did, maybe I was taught manners growing up but thats something I could never ever do to someone. However, after he would have flipped me the bird, I dont think I could have kept my mouth shut but it would have been very immature so again way to be Bill. And of course thanks for everything you do for us fishermen that have our stuggles on TRL, I know I can get skunked one day come here read how all the guides did and try their techniques the next and have a much better day...Thanks to you all and of course Phil for having the site...
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 4, 2008 Root Admin Posted May 4, 2008 Had a great laugh.. first at crappie's post about the dead horse and then Bill's comment about the bone. Good ones... I sure like this forum too........
gabe Posted May 4, 2008 Posted May 4, 2008 Crappie: Lighten up for cryin out loud!! On the vulgar scale that didn't even move the needle. Your "Holier Than Thou" comments were totally unecessary and put a bad light on a great post. I am sure the guides have other things they can do with their time besides help us out with useful fishing information. So please, lighten up.
