Fished today and stunk it up. Never caught a fish. Tried the deep football jig and grub from the mouth of the James to Big Indian. Guess you need to know the right points, I sure don't. Very discouraging. Thanks for the reports Bill, keep them coming. Sorry I had to report this, but thought I would share the bad news.

Fishrman...I'm heading for Kimberling tomorrow, not sure if I understand this bite, but I was thinking it was not necessarily deep points, just areas near spawn banks/coves that had some water on them. Sort of the usual grub/rig places, just out more. Are those the kinds of places you looked at?

Yeah, I thought I was on the points that were flat and led to coves that had gravel and a gentle slope. Fished one point toward the Mouth of the James and sat my boat in 28 feet, left and moved over to the next point and Bill Beck pulled in right where I left, saw him catch two, don't know if they went in the livewell or not. He left, so I went back to see how deep he was sitting compared to me. Big difference, he was in the 40 feet range. Fished on Friday from Little Indian to Point 16, caught 6 with 4 keepers. Spinnerbait and flipping lizard to trees in 3-5 feet of water. So, I guess I will wait a little while before I go back.

I spent the day between Campbell Point and Baxter. Water temp 63-67. Same stinky result. I could see lots of fish in the 28 to 50 foot depth, near good spawn locations (probably, last year it was pasture!). No bitey. I did hit a smalley on the head and he tried to kill my lure to protect himself. Lots o' carp rolling, the temp must be right for the spawn.

It was a tru bluebird sky, except not much wind. Still beats workin. Going to try again tomorrow, maybe the incoming front will unlock the jaws.

Good luck and godspeed.

To say that Table Rock was tough today, might be an understatement. Loads of prussure on the lake from Thursday thru today, made it somewhat of a gar hole.

No breeze and flat water, brought everyone back into reality.

Beck reported it to be extremely rough sleading. While catching over 70 in the wind yesterday and loads of keepers, he scratched and clawed for a limit today. Finished number 3. His Amatuer both days finished in the top 3 so he was guiding them to fish as always.

Reported the bite to be much deeper, and lots slower. 5 in. Chomper single tail in either salt/pepper or Black/Blue was about as good as you could ask for. Boat in that 30 ft. number, swimming the grub on flat gravel.

Buster reported he did not have a bite for 2 solid hrs. this AM. Ended the trip with 8 and had to work his tail off to get them.

I know for a fact, he had 60 on his trip yesterday, with about half being keepers as I saw him catch one after the other, after the other.

If the wind does not blow and Table Rock is flat, I don't care what time of the year it is, you will struggle.

We fished hard all morning with a goose egg for our efforts. Did some chores around the cabin this afternoon then tried again this evening in the point 5 area. Picked up a few light biters around 8 o'clock. Best was a 2.5 - 3 # SJ by our son Dave. The bites were specific the edge of the chuck rock and gravel bottom in 30'. We caught them on salt and pepper grubs and tubes 4". Mama went along and just could not get a good hookup on her football jig. We wanted to stay a little longer but a neighbor called and said some friends were stranded on a dock they were repairing and the 12 foot shuttle boat they were using had drifted away. So we did our good deed for the day and rescued them and the boat. Maybe the rock will reward us in the morning with a nice catch.

I fished a small derby over the weekend with my bro inlaw. Hammered em on fri 10 keeps up to 4 lbs about 30 fish total. Caught two swimmer keeps on Sat around the mouth of the white, boats on every point take a number time!

Caught fish all day which my bro in law had never caught so many! so that was fun. Sunday with the flat water I flipped the outside bushes down around point 5 in a creek had 4 keeps and one good one wrap me up in a bush and could not get to him, so not bad for a half day. All in all a great weekend. I only caught one LM all weekend evrything else SB and SM. Great site thanks for the info.

Babler, you really had to be in the right areas yesterday. I had a limit in the boat by 10 AM on the grub, but then they just quit biting it. So I pulled out the shaky head and slowed down a bit. Caught 4 more keepers that I culled with. Ended the day with 5 going 14.17 and all of them were Kentucs. Sat. is what killed me, I couldn't get the good fish in the boat. Lost a couple and broke one off, those days always hurt. If it would have been a one day tourney yesterday, I would have been in the top 5. O well, thats how it goes!!
