vernon Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Guys My brother and I will be arriving mid afternoon this Saturday for our annual spring extravaganza to TR and will be staying in a condo at the Kimberling Inn. With water and ramp conditions being what they are, I was curious as to what we might expect at that time of day launching by Ahoy's. I'm figuring that there will be some of the usual tournament action taking place and wondered if we would even be able to get the boat in the water or if we would be better off waiting until later in the day or. After reading all of the posts for the last few weeks, I can't wait to get there but also don't want to start off the trip by getting into a cluster at the ramp. We're renting a slip for the week so once we're in, that's it. Any feedback or suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks as always for all of the great advice found here and we look forward to seeing all of you there! "Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups." CMAC Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Vernon, OMTT tournament is the only thing I know of going out down at the bottom of the hill on Saturday. Weigh In starts at 3pm. So, if you put in before that you will be fine, if you don't mind somewhat limited parking. Hope this helps.
Whack'emGood Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Vernon, If you run into a mess over there, you can always go over to Mill Creek and launch. I know you said you only needed to launch once so it shouldn't be an issue, but if something happens and you need to launch and fish-- then take out, it would be the place to go. Thats where I have been launching and, even with that big tourney about 3 weeks ago, there was no problem getting launched and finding a place to park your rig. Except for that day, even though it was fine even then, there has been plenty of space over there for the past few months anytime we have gone. The launch dock is underwater but, with a little care, you can get your driver picked up with no problem because the slope is steep at the bank. Good luck! P.S. Swim grubs slowly deep out off of main lake points and you should catch em. When you find them they will be all bunched up, so keep after them when you do. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
vernon Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Guys Thanks so much for the replies. CMAC, parking won't be an issue as we'll put the boat in the slip and then go drop off the trailer. Our unit is lake front and near the ramp so we won't need a place to park the truck either. Whackem', thanks for the additional fising info - god, I hope you're right. After reading all of the posts for the past couple of weeks, I'm so anixious to get there that I'm about to pop! I've printed off about twenty pages of stuff in case I get amnesia and can't remember it all! Hopefully, we can get there before 300 and get out of everybody's way. We'll be in a red and gold striped white 520 so if you see us give a yell! Thanks again for the help and all of the great stuff that y'all provide here.
