I went down to Bagnell yesterday for about 4 hours in the afternoon. I ended up catching 16 crappie and 4 whites. The crappie averaged 10-12 inches with the biggest around 16 inches. The whites were really small 9 inch males. All of the crappie still has eggs in them. My fishing buddy caught 15 crappie and his fish were slightly larger probally 13 inche on average. All in all a great day. They are holding in 10-12 feet right on the bottom. TONS of shad in the area. 5 flood gates open and 4 or 5 units running. I don't generally tell people when I catch the crappie, but this site has been great to me so I'm going to break my code of silence and "share the love." Tight lines. :D

You are a good man Mr. Lilley! Thanks for the site! I will share my information here. Fair is fair and I going to give to those who give to me. I wish everyone who "trolls" the site shared... we would have much much more information on the fishing.

Where exactly is this dam? A buddy and myself might make the trip if we can find it.

Thanks

Just put in below Truman Dam and motor downstream about 60 miles. You can't miss it. ;)

You can see the dam from highway 63 after traveling thru Osage Beach on the west side of the road. I've never driven over to see it up close. I'm sure if you look on a MO map you can find it.

Were you guys fishing on the spillway side near the rocks or on the side where the flood gates are? Most crappie fisherman I see fish on the flood gate side.

Also, were there any asian carp up there on the surface? We always take our bowfishing rigs along in case we get in to a mess of them or gar and have a blast.

I think you are talking about Hwy 54. The road to the access below the dam is on the east side of the Osage River bridge.

I'm heading down tomarrow afternoon. I haven't tried on the flood gate side yet. The crappie were stacked up a little bit further down from the dam about halfway between the ramp and darn in the slow water. 10-12 feet deep. To be honest it was a white bass trip that turned into a crappie trip real quick!
