This is a copy of Bill's post from a few weeks ago... please update any info and add other ramps that are not on this list. I will clean it up and make updates as needed and keep this pinned at the top of the forum.

Cricket Creek off the hwy. Lots of space for rigs and people are launching there.

Gages on Long Creek - closed

State Park- great ramp- no problems. Plenty of parking.

Big Bay Ramp at Shell Knob Very Good limited parking

Campbell Pt at Shell Knob Ok but shallow, no problem with shorts or a companion

H Hwy at Shell Knob Good parking and lots of space

39 Bridge at Shell Knob Ok

Eagle Rock SP - open but need to have 2 people and/or wader

Eagle Rock Marina - open but need to have 2 people and/or wader

Baxter 2 roads shallow easy with shorts or a companion

Mill Creek - Putting in off road and it's shallow. Parking awkward. Courtesy dock has been pulled up on the ramp and is now fuctional for public use.

Viola - Can launch off the road on the edge of the parking lot, as well as a couple of the loop roads in the campground and also down toward the marina. Parking along road. As a note Kings has cleared considerably the last week. Still murky, but not mocha, more greenish. Also I think the Corps campground is going to open 5/15, at least that is what they were planning.

Big M - Launching about 400' from ramp on road bed. Actually good angle and "road ramp" situation. Parking along campground roads. I talked with Denver the Marina owner today and they were working hard to get their facility open by Memorial Day.

Kim City 13 - open, parking is better as water recedes

Ahoy's: All docks now have walk ways attached to the shore.

Indian Point - Open but parking is limited

Holiday Island: OK but easier loading with two people or waders. Parking for 30+ rigs.

Beaver: Closed

Kimberling Inn Good limited parking

Add a note to Eagle Rock SP that loading is easier with two people or waders. Don't know the status of the launch at Eagle Rock marina but suspect it is similar.

The Kimberling 13 ramp is getting better for parking. The water receded enough where both roads are open now. Mill Creek is good, but you are putting in where you would normally park. The ramp is not that steep and you have to back in quite a ways in to load and unload. Parking is determined by the courtesy of people who come before you!

Here are a couple you missed:

Most every road ramp I have seen is decent, problem can be getting rig turned around to back toward the lake. Seems like there are a few numbnuts out there who will still park right in the obvious way where everyone is making the swing to back to the offload area.

Can we say numbnuts? I heard numnuts was politically incorrect. Perhaps the B will help.

Rule of thumb: don't park in any space your vehicle utilized when making your launch. The SK bridge @ Hwy39 has been a zoo at times because of one rig parked by operator whose cajones were obviously under anesthesia.

Update on Holiday Island access. HISID bought four different small sections of walkway and added them to the existing sections. It looks jury rigged, but it is safe and works. As a result, you can now launch and load without having to beach the boat. The courtesy dock portion of the marina holds two boats. The marina will open before Memorial Day and will have boat gas etc. Don't know what the plans are as far as pontoon and boat rentals. The debris in the lake may cause them to be slow to start rentals.

For those of us with slips, this is a huge, good thing! :-)

Update for Mill Creek out of Kimberly City......

Courtesy dock has been pulled up on the ramp and is now fuctional for public use.

Please, if you do use the ramp to park your tow vechicle and trailer on. Please park your rig vertical to the water to allow more parking for others. When one truck with a trailer parks parallel to the water on the ramp, it takes up 10 parking spots.

Thanks,

How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait! rtj4bb.gif

Anyone know the status of Moonshine Beach? We will be in Branson next week and would like to launch from that ramp if open.

Posted

Fishin'chemteacher,

Moonshine beach is closed and will likely remain so until the lake is closer to 923'. The corp is concerned with boaters running into the guard rail on the edge(s) of the ramp. The Beach it's self will not be open this year according to the Corps.
