Leonard Posted May 14, 2008 Author Posted May 14, 2008 the spoon wasnt caught in the mouth... (I guess you can call it a snag).. I think what happened was as the fly was drifting though the water and the line itself went into the its mouth... he twiched making it feel like a strike.. when I got him in the fly was on the outside of the gill plate.. less the 2inches from the mouth.. ******I think what happened was as the fly was drifting though the water and the line itself went into the its mouth***** I was talking to a buddy in Washington. He tells me this ia a legal way to hook up salmon and steel head.. It is referred as Lining or Flossing.... http://www.taneycomonights.com
soggyfeet Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Leonard that has to be some kind of Tany Grand slam. The only thing left in the lake is Terrys squid. From the sounds of it the Squid wouldnt be too happy gettting stuck in the gil plate. Brian
KATroutman13 Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Leonard, I bet you thought you had just dominated the world record brown or rainbow when you set the hook on that thing!
Seth Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 Well it's cool to see that a spooney made it through the dam and lived to tell the trout about it. I bet it was a wild ride! Man I can't imagine how that felt to fight a spoony on the flyrod because they darn near pull a person in the water using standard heavy duty surf tackle!
