TroutRinger Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I plan on going to either Bennett or Maramec Springs next week and was wondering what the water clarity is like specifically is it clear enough to sight fish yet. I know it has been a while since the flooding but last time I was at Maramec it looked like the Mississloppy River. "Of all the liars among mankind, the fisherman is the most trustworthy." NoLuck Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Check the section here on Missouri trout parks. There is usually someone that has been to the parks and leaves a report. Rich
FishinCricket Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I plan on going to either Bennett or Maramec Springs next week and was wondering what the water clarity is like specifically is it clear enough to sight fish yet. I know it has been a while since the flooding but last time I was at Maramec it looked like the Mississloppy River. I was out yesterday at bennett and it was still pretty dingy.. The spring water was clearer than the river of course, but still really muddy for sight fishing... If the weather holds out and the rain quits for the next week it should be great by memorial day.. But right now everything near bennett is swollen (ponds, creeks, and backwashes) and any more rain will keep it muddy... cricket.c21.com
Seth Posted May 21, 2008 Posted May 21, 2008 You can see 3-4 feet at Maremec Springs. I sight fished most of the time on Sunday and did pretty well. Caught 10 in a couple of hours and that was also in between helping out my girlfriend and her dad.
brittsnbirds Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 I would disregard BSP for a month or so for sight fishing. It was very dingy last weekend, green tint, clarity was about 1 foot or so. Barely could see the bottom in 3 foot of water. Main/deep portion of stream is bad. It will take some time for it to get back. Spring is still spitting dingy green water. Pat
Snow Fly Posted May 22, 2008 Posted May 22, 2008 Brittsnbirds is right about BS I was there Monday and the water was good for about two feet of visibility and all the fish are DEEP, need to get down. The Riffles below the Stone bridge is now a river and the fish are buried in the rock so you better be bouncing around in the rocks.
