Thanks for what ever is causing the extremely low water(thought this was a flood year?) a log wedged up under the lower unit of my old 61 Evinrude and put her permanently out of commision. Now Im left with a water cooled salad mixer. It broke the planing fin and bent the prop shaft. Sorry to say, it really isnt worth the money to fix it. Too bad. I have the motor finally running like a top, and just recent had a new hub put in my prop so I wasnt busting pins anymore.

Anyway, Short story long, I think I have to finally give in and buy a new motor. Although, life has its priorities and a new motor just isnt the cards right now. Maybe in a month or so I can figure something out. Until then, I guess I have to break out the eggs, powerbait, and nightcrawlers and fish in the slow lane off the old dock. I can at least get a new lawn chair to break in. Ho Hum. Beer anyone?

Thanks for letting me vent. I will report from home base for a little while. So fellas, if you know where my dock is then you will know where I am catching all my fish for awhile. Haha

Guess what Trav, I spent the morning in your neck of the woods today. The lake sucks when its low, lots of wood and few crappie that I could find.I also have had motor problems arise today. It runs horrible.Im not sure if it needs a carb job or just needs to be run more then 3 times a year.I got a neet sunburn and when my wife got home I got chewed out for not doing anything around the house on my day off.Do you got lots of beer? I gots a lawn chair. Also I mite need to sleep in your garage for a few days

I think I hit the same log as you in the low water. Luckily no damage I could see.

Did I hear that there are some boards the are on powersite dam and they have been removed? Maybe I'm dreaming that up.

I finally put those minnows to good use and caught a few crappie up roark in the low clear water next to some brush piles.

They were small and I had to fight off the blue gills to get the good fish.

Crappie

At least I am not the only one with a run of ills with a boat. I am already thinking about what a hammer and some JB Weld might do. Haha

Store has alot of beer. Just got to swim across and get it.

Be better to pitch a tent in my yard than to sleep in my garage though. Maybe not, if you dont have any Deet. Haha

Trav, If you are truely wanting to retire her, my lodge would love to give her a place of honor hanging in the main reception room. We could have a plaque made telling her story for all to see. Just a thought.

Always looking for memerobilia from our area for guest to appreciate. Let me know if your interested

Sincerely Bill

Thanks BigRed, I might even go fishing with you just to get off the dock! You cant miss it. It is the only one on the current side across from Rockaway. Bought it from Edon Roc Motel in '90 and it still has the Motels logo on it.

Bill, I am going to see what a hammer and some JB Weld will do for now. Besides, I have a buddy at Central Marine(Jack) who has had his eye on her for quite some time. He collects vintage motors as well. I will probably give it to him. Plus he will be instrumental in finding me a reliable 35horse to replace her.

I have an '84 50horse Merc that came off my Gramps pontoon years ago that needs a little lower-unit work so between the two I am hoping to find an even trade. I am confident Jack can get-er-done.

Anyway, not much of a story behind it. I bought it 8 years ago from a Resteraunt manager named Ron who had it 5 or 6 years. I was the sauce/saute chef at the resteraunt he worked at. He bought it from a guy named Mel whose wife was a waitress in the same resteraunt. I think Mel had it a decade or so. Other than that I dont know anything else.

BUT... I am retired....you can hang me on the wall and that gives a far more interesting story to tell! Haha
