What are your plans for Memorial Day weekend and are the gas prices effecting what your plans are.I usually just stay home because here on Lake Norfork the Lake is packed with out of towner's but the campgrounds that are out of the water dont have that many campers for a Thursday before the Holiday weekend. It looks like a lot of people are staying home.

Larry,

I know the gas prices are affecting my plans. I was hoping to get out for a couple of quick weekend trips this spring, maybe even some out and back the same day. I'm having a hard time justifying those trips these days. Hopefully, I'll be able to put together a couple of multi-day trips this summer.

We'll be staying at Tablerock for the whole weekend. Normally we would go to Crane Creek or somewhere obscure from there, but it's just too far. Last weekend we explored the War Eagle because it is the closest floatable stream (except the Illinois :=X: ). Nice scenery, but the water is only a little cleaner than the Illinois and the fishing is similarly poor. Due to gas prices we'll probably be doing it more though.

Gas prices have shut down my fishing. Living in the St. Louis metro area puts us quite a ways from good fishing. A typical trip to Mountain Home is a tank down, a tank to drive around and a tank back. I sleep in the back of the Yukon so the only expense is gas. But when you add up 3 tanks at almost $4/gal it equals $275 for gas.

A brother can stay home and play alot of golf on that kind of scratch. I guess it's not so much how much it is, but is it worth it for that kind of money.

My wife and daughter are flying to Fort Myers round trip for $500. Last year it was $300 for the both of them. I don't think you could drive to Fort Myers and back for $500. I read the fishing reports of you guys living down there and it just drives me crazy wishing I could fish those places that much.
