Hello all, I was thinking about heading over to the Current this afternoon. Just wondering how the flows/color is after the big storms rolled though? Fishable? Thanks.

According to this, it's up a bit - the levels don't look that bad but the cfs is double normal conditions... so unless Sam comes on and corrects me, I'd say it's going to be high and full of debry from the rain (leaves and grass).

Hey bob-o and others, I fished the Current in the park (catch and release) on 11/18 after a similar storm event. The water was up and slightly off-color but fishing was excellent. The recent storms are a welcome relief as the water in the park and blue ribbon section have been very low for the past several months. More rain is still needed.

I use the USGS hydrograph that lilley directed you to as an indicator, however, the Akers Ferry gauging station is many river miles downstream from Montauk Park, Tan Vat, Baptist, etc and may be affected by rains "outside" of the headwater recharge area.

I see my idea of using the "live" image from USGS's site doesn't work... the url #'s change when the image is updated I guess.

Shucks! I guess we have to go to their site and see current conditions.

.....

Yep- they do.

The Current comes up pretty quick then drops off fast. Its been bony low for the last 3-4 months (1-1.2 at Akers). That little bump on the graph could only improve the fishing. I find that the wade fishing is comfortable for me above Ashley Creek if the guage at Akers is below 3.0, but wading below Ashley can be a little chalenging. Highest I ever had good fishing was around 4.25 at Akers. A canoe was essential to get from spot to spot and the fly bite was tough, however, the fish were taking crankbaits consistently. Cheers.

Well we went, and managed some fish on streamers and BHHE's. Missed a nice one, but landed a few over 14... The water was perfect. Wish we had more time... Thanks all.
