Hey folks! I need some help I'll be in Nixa on the 13thor 14th for the week and was wondering about smallmouth fishin around there close. Any suggestions? I'd need hwy names and walk in points. Thanks

3 or 4 miles south of Nixa, Hwy 160 crosses the Finley River. You can park on the southeast side of the bridge. You may have to go down river a ways to get into some good water. Not the best spot in the world but there are some fish there.

Check out the James River section on the forum. Phil has posted some excellent maps of the James River. All of these access points can be reached from Hwy 160 as well. Kerr Access is mt favorite area to start wading. The best spots are about a mile away from the access. It's a good walk :o.

If we don't get some rain soon you may be disappointed

Good Luck, you may see me at Kerr if you decide to go there. I'll be the only guy you'll see with a fly rod.

Seminar -- Fly Fishing for Spring White Bass in the Ozarks

On Tuesday March 21 at 7pm, you have the opportunity to learn about fly fishing and tying flies for Spring White Bass in the Ozarks. Lilleys' Landing will host this event at our facility, unless registrations exceed our capacity.

The cost is just $5 per person, and kids 12 and unders are free.

This seminar will be presented by Bill Butts and Terry Tanner, both long-time fly fishing and fly tying enthusiasts. Their friendship was initially built on the mutual interest in catching White Bass on flies over 25 years ago.

Bill will share with you some history and biological aspects of White Bass, fishing opportunities in the Ozarks, and necessary fly tackle.

Terry will be sharing fly tying techniques and tips for their favorite White Bass fly patterns.

Come and join in the fun and learning opportunity with your fellow fly fishing enthusiasts.

Terry Tanner is a veteran fly tier and fly fisherman of over 50 years. His working career was dedicated to Landscape Design for 33 years, then working in the Fly Fishing Dept. of Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World for 8 more years, finally retiring just a few years ago. Terry has been a featured fly tier at FFF Conclaves and Sowbug Roundups for 13 years. One of the highlights of Terry's fly fishing career was the honor of personally guiding former U.S. President George Bush for an afternoon of fishing at Dogwood Canyon.

Bill Butts is a veteran fly fisherman and fly tier of 37 years. He has been in sales and sales management for the past 25 years. Bill has presented a variety of fly fishing programs, seminars and fly tying demonstrations to FFF Conclaves, fishing clubs and civic groups since the early 1970's. Though he is an Ozarks native, he has worked in the fly fishing industry in California and the Yellowstone region. He is currently the moderator for the OA Forum--Striped, Hybrid and White Bass topics. He also voted for former President George Bush.

For registration information or to sign up for the seminar, call Lilleys' Landing Resort & Marina at 1-800-284-2196 during normal business hours.

Registration is alittle slow for the seminar although I hear of a lot people are coming. Five have registered. If you haven't call to registered, please do asap.

The reason we need to know how many are coming is to facilitate the meeting the best way we can, ie. refreshments, materials. If the group is too large, we will move it to another location in town. But until that time, it will be held here at the resort.

Call 1-800-284-2196.

If we plan on attending should we expect time and space to try tying some the flys we learn about?

I am so looking forward to the Whites running this spring.

We have about 20 currently registered for the seminar so because of time and space constraints, we probably can't offer personal tying lessons. We do offer smaller fly tying classes every Tuesday night- Jeremy will be there tomorrow night so possibly he can carry the patterns over to next week.

I cannot make it to the seminar, but am VERY interested in the topic, would it be possible to get a copy of the materials you mentioned or the power point presentation if there is one? I will be down this weekend so I could pick it up and pay for it then. Thanks either way.
