You know what... I think I have changed my mind on this subject. I am gonna buy a 100 foot yacht with a hull just made for making big waves and a stereo so loud that you can't hear your fishing partner yell "FISH ON!" and drink beer and ride up and down the lake all day just under plane speed. I will weave through the fishing boats (making sure to make several passes between the fishermen and the bank) and laugh as everyone (for no apparent reason) gets mad and tells me to give them room. I have decided to quit fishing and do this from now on because it looks like so much fun, and apparently you can do these things and be as obnoxious at it as you want and never get in trouble for it... because no law can be made against it... period. End of story. ;):lol::lol:

You know, in all seriousness, nothing aggravates me more than seeing a guy do something illegal and/or something to harrass someone else and get away with it again and again-- him knowing that he will never get in trouble for it because there is nobody there to enforce it. Especially when I always try to obey the rules and laws just because you are supposed to (obeying rules is the right thing to do). I guess most people in this world don't live right because it is the right thing to do... they only live right when they are made to, and they know it can be enforced. They are like grade school children.

P.S. A bass boat with a 225 going full tilt barely makes any wake at all. You could run one within 20 feet of another boat (not that you should) and barely make his boat rock at all. You are right though... i would hate to be in a collision with a bass boat going 65+ mph. It would be all over. Yes, bass boats need to be responsible on the water too. I hardly ever run into one out there that isn't though. But, rarely, I do.

You may not have to worry about any enforcement of any kind in this state soon.

I heard a rumor (and I will admit it was a rumor) but it was confirmed by a kinda government body that the Missouri State Highway Patrol is about to run out of budgeted money for fuel for the 2008 year and I am sure that if it is true that Water Patrol cannot be in too good of shape either.

State troopers not patrolling  ? Only responding to emergencies ?

I hear ya Wack'em Good and BigRedbirdfan, I'm sure you heard of the old citizens arrest thang, just imagine us writing tickets for the ol Water Patrol guys....I can see it now. I will mount one of those funny blue lights on the front of my boat.....if I see a big cruiser passing by out of control, I'll wave a flag at him...if that dont work, I'll chase him down with my new funny blue light on the bow of my boat and oh yeah use that cool digital video camera during the whole process. Then I'll pull out one of those receipt books ya get at Office Depot, write em citizen ticket...what the heck, go ahead charge him cash on the spot :lol::lol:

I'll make sure I have my new waterproof pen too.

I havent been on the lake since Saturday, but I will be out this Saturday. I'm not scared to say anything to someone who acts like an idiot and pays no attention to his surrounding when you know and they know their in the wrong.

What the heck...I thank I might just change my name from Predator1 to Seargant1

Whatcha thank about that

A little different thought..Having fished tournaments at Smithville which has no wake restrictions on its tiny bridges, can you imagine the mess that rule would cause around the 13 bridge when all the boats blow out and turn right at take off, then have to shut immediately down? It would amount to the creation of a shotgun take off on the other side of the bridge, especially if there was a crowd headed for the White or the James. Even worse as boats would return for weigh-in, with the added afternoon pleasure traffic. Ick-O.

Two years ago on vacation, my bro in law rented a pontoon, you know...the kind that has the BBQ grill on the front. Anyways we were tooling down the lake with him and a bunch of the kids in the pontoon, and me and a couple passengers in my 20' Glastron. I see this HUGE cruiser coming down the lake so I gas it and stay out in front, the bro in law wasnt so lucky he saw it coming and couldnt get out of the way, he is a novice boater but he did the right thing out of instinct and pointed the bow into the wake. The front of the pontoon dug in after going over the first wave and nose dived to the point that the BBQ grill was completely submerged and the motor was out of the water, then as the pontoon popped back up the wave flushed across the deck washing out all the seat cushions, a cooler, and almost one of the kids. Scared the living crap outta him. Of course we call all laugh about it now, but to this day his Table Rock nickname is U-Boat Captain. He didnt give up on boating completely, last year he rented a 23' cruiser, this year a 21' deck boat and he did fine.

Ive heard that this is the same exact situation that can cause pontoons to flip over.

In retrospect I should have hung around him and made sure he was gonna be ok.

Well I think its about time we poured a can of woop butt on people like that. Me for one I'am fed up with it . Then I will go to jail, and let the courts handle the problem. Something has to be done guys. stay strong and hang on.

Snakem Out
