techo
My son was willing to fish with me today. It was a good thing, because he is leaving for Vancouver, Washington to start a life there on Saturday. We mostly played around and drove the boat some, but managed to catch five fish in the four hours or so we were out. Two were close to fifteen inches, the other three were feisty little short fish. They had some attitude. Caught one on shaky head and one on drop shot, the other three were on Jewel jigs. It was a fun day. Taking my usual partner tomorrow. techo
We went out this morning and were boiled off the lake about 12:45. We did not do the greatest today. We each caught one Kentucky. It was a nice morning with the clouds, but very little breeze at all. We were fishing the point across from Point 9 and three guys in a Nitro came over and started fishing the same point. They didn't say hello, or hey, mind if we fish the same point or anything. One guy was telling the other two how great it is to fish on a bobber at times and they would have three fish on at a time. I didn't see them catch a fish as they trolled away after a while. Looked like they were throwing spoons. I sort of expect jetskis and tubers to get a bit close. I expect they often don't put themselves in others shoes and don't realize how inconsiderate they appear. I fully expect other fishermen to have some sort of ethics or morals. Was a disappointing day, except I was able to spend it on the lake with my Mrs. Tim Carpenter
flipper
had same thing happen sat. only was a tourney boat. we thought that it was sort of rude but i guess if you are a "professional" and fishing a tourney it's ok........ NOT!!
FRENZEL
You guys... It happens all the time, I know I'm out a lot and used to it but it doesn't hurt anyone... I used to get mad but what use? They aren't bugging or hurting anything unless of course they throw a huge wake... Curse up a storm or throw jigs at your boat. focused fishing
Guys try doing this for a living. Once someone realizes that you are a guide they will get close enough to jump in the boat with you, then follow you from spot to spot. I used to get mad but what's the use? Anymore I let my clients make the call on whether or not to leave. Nothing is as sweet to have someone pull up on you or even cut you off and then catch fish behind them while they struggle.. Champ188
Eric's right. I know because I guided full-time for several years on the lakes around Hot Springs before deciding that was too much work and worry for me. Some people will zero in on a guide boat and dog you everywhere you go. And it has more to do with the person than whether they are a "tournament fisherman" or recreational angler. Some people just have little regard for others and lack the character or ability to find their own fish.
focused fishing
You are right Champ 188, I've been followed by just as many alluminum rigs as tournament rigs. It's all about the person not the passion. Gary Lange
My Brother-in-law and I were fishing over on Kentucky Lake one year and were doing well with bottom walking sinkers and trolling. We had just about everyone including a few guide's ask what we were doing. I didn't see anyone follow us but that don't mean they didn't. We just told them we were trolling the 26' break with minnows. We caught a bunch of fish and put everyone of them back. If you're catching fish everyone seems to want to know what you are doing different from them because they aren't getting any. Respect your Environment and others right to use it! Predator1
Too bad we dont have a 100' rule, excuse me thats still too close at times. Even a 100yrd rule would work for me. Even though God blessed us with a great lake as the rock. We still have to share the waters. I can remember when my grandmother used to take me fishing at the SHRINERS CLUB in Shreveport on Cross Lake when I was about knee high to a duck. She would stake out about 10 poles at a time on that bank and so would everyone else. However, everyone had enough area to fish ther own spots. Basically, it all comes down to common courtousy. Either ya got it or ya don't. Those of us who got it, use it. Those who don't are just wasting time. I dont't see too many of those guys catching fish anyway. My fishing partner enjoys it, he just picks up a different rod and tells them about all the fish he caught on this new little bait. He want let nobody see what he's using when another boat pulls up that close either. He likes watching them scramble for a lure they dont have. He really gets a big laugh out of it. Maybe we ought to start placing them funny bumper stickers on our boats too.
techo
Sorry for whining! I have a pretty good life overall, but sometimes it helps to whine. I do have to say....I don't think duck have knees. Tim Carpenter
