Fishing Buddy Don House Posted August 2, 2008 Fishing Buddy Posted August 2, 2008 Eric's right. I know because I guided full-time for several years on the lakes around Hot Springs before deciding that was too much work and worry for me. Some people will zero in on a guide boat and dog you everywhere you go. And it has more to do with the person than whether they are a "tournament fisherman" or recreational angler. Some people just have little regard for others and lack the character or ability to find their own fish. Guy's try to have a wrapped boat you standout like a sore thumb! Kinda funny really, I have two boats that allways show up when I'm out around Indian Point Area. Once they find a deep water spot that you fish, you can count on them being there the next day, and the day after that and so on... Then it becomes their spot, that happened last week.. I just laughed because they were not even fishing close to the fish, we just kept on moving to the next spot.. Still love it, off to work now, tech you just go out and have fun, that is all that really matters... Good Fishing Everyone.. Capt. Don Capt. Whack'emGood Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Don, That's rediculous that guys are stealing (or at least trying) your spots. It doesn't surprise me though. I guess most guys don't have ethics these days. I would never fish a spot that I normally don't fish, just because I saw you, Bill, Eric, Phil, or any of the other guides fishing it (or anyone else for that matter). I would actually make it a point to stay away from that spot (unless, of course, it was already one of my regular spots as well). It's good that you don't let it bother you too much though-- I don't think I would be able to take it that well, that's for sure. Of course, you guys have alot more spots than most of us do. I guess you guys can afford to just shrug it off and move on. The bottom line is-- It still isn't right though, guys need to have some respect for other guys and their space. bassman1308 Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I've never been a guide but in the past, fished a lot of bass tourneys. This is about the only thing that I disliked about bass fishing. Some guys made a point to 'check out ' spots they saw you on. Most the time they catch little but that didn't stop them from telling everyone who'd listen where they saw you fishing. Nothing like running 10 miles, anticitating fishing a spot you feel holds fish, and having one of these guys sitting on it.
Whack'emGood Posted August 3, 2008 Posted August 3, 2008 I can identify with that exact thing Bassman. I have witnessed guys move right over to a spot just after we left it-- just to try to see what we liked about it-- then in the next tournament... when we go to fish that spot, those same guys were sitting on it. Made me want to, at least go over there and run circles around their boat and all through the spot to ruin it for them... but I didn't. I guess, although it would feel pretty good to do that, it isn't the right thing to do. Just move on and catch'em somewhere else, I guess. techo Posted August 3, 2008 Author Posted August 3, 2008 It seems when I am fishing a spot and a boat goes by....the fish jump or even bite. Sometimes I think it helps ot have a boat go by. We used to fish another lake with a railroad bridge. Whenever a train would go by the fish would wake up and start eating our bait. Tim Carpenter

We used to fish another lake with a railroad bridge. Whenever a train would go by the fish would wake up and start eating our bait. I believe the wakes stir up the bait fish when a boat goes by. This is what gets the bass going. So it kinda starts a feeding frenzy.
