fishinSWMO Posted August 1, 2008 Posted August 1, 2008 Me and my son Andrew waded the creek yesterday. It had been a year or so since we were there last. Water was low and we did a lot of walking but the fish were hungry. Caught a variety of fish, mostly smallies. I think I caught more than him, but I caught the smallest and he caught the largest I am proud of him, he caught more fish that day on his own than any other time. Jeremy Dodson
patfish Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 THAT is so cool! Congrats to your boy Andrew, what a fine young man, and I'm sure he has followed your "expert" tutelage. This kind of thing is the best reason to view this forum.
Chief Grey Bear Posted August 2, 2008 Posted August 2, 2008 Hey way to go! There may be a lot of walking on that creek but, it can pay off handsomely as the pic shows. I take my son Dylan there quite often and its always have a great time. Where did you fish? We are usually in the Klondike area. fishinSWMO Posted August 2, 2008 Author Posted August 2, 2008 Patfish thanks for the kind words, Chief Greybear Thanks, Not sure where the Klondike area is, but we just parked at the bridge on 43 and went downstream. Not sure how far it is to Elk river but we didn't quite make it. Glad we brought the lights to walk back with. FishinSWMO Jeremy Dodson
Chief Grey Bear Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 I think its in the neighborhood of about 2.5 miles to Elk from 43 hwy. I have not fished that stretch yet but, it is on my list of things to do. Funny though, my list of things to do is different from the list my wife has for me! Oh, be careful how far down you fish. You will be in the state of OK before you know it. ollie Posted August 5, 2008 Posted August 5, 2008 Chief, I think your about right on the milage thing. I know I have waded upstream from where it flows into the Elk about a mile or so, but didn't hit any major holes with fish. Of course that was a couple of years ago so I know the place has had to of changed since the flooding. I just fished the lower Elk yesterday and did very well. Great smile from a kid fishing doesn't get any better than that.
