Me and Bill have put together a package trip for a couple of weeks in September. First week is booked- only one week left. Here's the skinny-

September 7-14

4 clients only

$2295 per person

Lodging at King Salmon Inn (hot meals, hot showers, flush toilets (yea), even sat TV and WIFI- but who has time for all that!!??

Fly out and camping at the Ugashik Narrows for 2 nights, 3 days fishing for giant Char.

Rest of the time fishing for world class rainbows on the Naknek River.

Rate includes lodging, food, guiding and flyout. Does not included fishing license, special foods or drinks or flight to King Salmon. You are expected to supply your own equipment and gear. We will supply the beads (flies).

Goes without saying... first to get us a deposit gets the spots.

Going to move this and bump it up. Not many views at the other place.

I have one person interested so far but need at least a couple of make it work.

Flights are running about $1100-$1200 from KCI or St Louis to King Salmon right now.

Also - can't swing the Ugashik fly out unless we get 4 for the rate quoted. But the Naknek is starting to look real good for rainbows.

It sounds like a great trip. I'm maxed out this year on travel fishing. I got back from the Mariachi River in New Brunswick about three weeks ago. We had a good year this year. The early run was big. They are totally wild and make for a good fight. We fish catch and release. These salmon go up the river to spawn and stay up all winter and go back to sea in April. The whole trip including airfare was $2171. USD. That included five days of guided fishing, airfare, car rental,

room board in a five star lodge and licenses. It was a blast. Anyone looking to fish Atlantics let me know.

I wish everyone going to Alaska the very best. I talked to Bill last night. He is fired up to get up there and get into some big fish. If I had some cash left I would sign up.

Wow- where are you flying from to where? What's the url of the place you stayed? What size salmon and what type were you catching? Tells us about the guiding?

I really would like to know about this place. Thanks.

Bob, Very nice visiting with you at BP yesterday. Looked up your salmon deal, and airfare was about $800.00 so that makes your 7 days under $200 per day for all meals, guide service and lodging. That is half the price of what a stay and fishing trip here in Branson would cost.

Checked out every lodge I could find on the Mairmachi and the best package I could find for 5 star accom food and guide service was $550.00 per day. Must be lots of lodges, as there is about 25 listed on the internet.

Glad you enjoyed yourself, as any trip is a blast. But posting Atlantic Salmon in the Same breath as Bristol Bay, Arctic Char and Monster Rainbows. Is like compairing a Piper Cub to a Boeing 737. Yes they are both airplanes.

Great meeting you, Hope to see you in Alaska

Hi Phil,

The name of the lodge is Upper Oxbow. They are a four star lodge. The fare is $270.USD per day for everything. I fly from Springfield to Bangor, ME, and drive the rest of the way in. Northwest has a flight out of Springfield at 0600 in the morning. It gets into Bangor at 1430. That gets me to the lodge before dark. The early run started the first week of June this year. I book in the last week of June. These fish are fresh from Greenland, and wild. The early run fish run up to 10+ pounds. The fall run fish in late September run up in the 30+ pound range. A combination bear hunting and salmon fishing trip can be got for the late run. These are all Atlantic Salmon. Atlantics run up the river to spawn and stay up river until the ice break up in the spring. They come back down starting in April going back to Greenland. Prior to the early run, sea run brook trout go up river to spawn. All these fish are totally nuts wild. Lots of casts per fish, but a blast when they take. I had to sacrifice myself to eating fresh lobster three days in a row. This a great lodge with the very best of guides. Two persons per guide. Debbie and Dale Norton the owners own some pools and have access to others, and also to some native Canadian pools down stream.

The very best to you all in Alaska!

There are a number of lodges on the river. The Miramichi is a very long river, with many branches. I fish the Little Southwest, and the Northwest. Where we fish is very close to Ted Williams pool. I did get to attend the Miramichi Salmon Association meeting while up there. They held it at the lodge. The fare at the lodge is $270. a day all inclusive for five days of fishing. Airfare and car rental was $821.USD for the time I was up there. I prefer to drive into Canada rather than the hassle of customs at Toronto or Montreal. I do fly out of Springfield.

Have a great trip to Alaska!!

Bottom line is that there are lots of great places to fish all over the place, but the thread is on Bill and Phil's trip. I for one would love to go up there but I am like Stephen Colbert, I am scared of the bears. Maybe a few visits to a hypnotherapist can help me with this, that or spend more time with my mother-in-law :D
