Leonard Posted August 4, 2008 Posted August 4, 2008 OKFlyFisher.. With all the water that has ran... the bottom has changed alot.... But as far as the fishing ITS FREAKING AWESOME!! Both day and night.... Even in the high water right now we are catching some nice 19-22in brownies... (at night) as for as your trip goes... I would agree with Jim.. we made a trip over to Current (Montauk).... from home (Taney)... and it was about a 4 hour drive (But this was with kids and having the tale restroom break) http://www.taneycomonights.com
OKFlyFisher44 Posted August 4, 2008 Author Posted August 4, 2008 Wow... I wish I could make a trip like this. You are one lucky dude. Ha! Just got lucky that I haven't burned any of my vacation time yet this year...got it all saved up for this fall! Now...the real trick is getting my wife to understand why I need to make this trip! It could be a tough proposition but usually when it comes to fishing...she knows she's fighting a losing battle. I was suppose to go to Montana this fall but thats getting pushed back till next year due to expecting my new baby daughter come November.....compromises! I haven't heard much about the Spring River....is it that good? I appreciate the input fellas....I'm making some route changes in my plan now. Just hope I can make this trip happen.... Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
Members KS - Rhino Posted August 4, 2008 Members Posted August 4, 2008 One year on my way from KC to the White River for our annual fishing trip in Arkansas, I fished Capps Creek south of Joplin, then the Roaring River, then fished below Beaver Dam, before heading to the White River. Caught fish in all four spots, which included 2 states in one day. Great way to go down for a trip to Arkansas. My plan was to head down 71 to Joplin, when close to Joplin, call the Tanneycomo dam, if running water, hit the spots listed above, if not head over to Tanneycomo. Fortunately, they were running water at Taney, because I got into some great trout at the C&R section at Roaring River. Not to mention the drive from Beaver to the White through Eureka Springs is very scenic.
