One thing with the TiCRx, the rod is one of the stiffest ultrasuperduperhighlinespeedcastamile fast action rods and does not load with a 5wt line at short (sub 35') ranges, as reported by Yellowstone Angler in their 5wt shootout. The rod is more of a 6+ weight rod if you want it to work at short ranges. Also, it may not protect a trout tippet the way a rod needs to. I suggest using nothing less than 3x on a 6wt, anything less and you will have to underplay the fish to keep from breaking off. I fish fiberglass and the added flex of the rods helps protect a lighter tippet.

I still like the TiCRx but I would definitely stay with the 5 wt. I was comparing the Sage Launch 5wt/6wt and as far as feel, there was some difference but not as drastic. The difference between the 5wt/6wt ticrx is HUGE, the 6wt is a TANK, gigantic stripping guides, feels heavy as an 8 weight I used to have, etc.

I still like the Launch as well but I want to be able to throw heavier rigs, since it is moderate fast, a 6wt might be a good all around rod

still trying to decide

Has anyone cast a Scierra Farrox or Sweep?

Another question, are there any other american made reels in the $200 range beside the Ross Cimmaron? Cabelas has them on sale for $120 but I was not impressed as the reels had a bunch of side to side slop, very loud click, the Cabelas SR and SLA reels seem much more refined (they are sale right now also for $80 for the SR, 110 for the SLA)

The teton Tioga is a really nice reel in that price range. I have a couple and they are my favorites.

Cabela's has the Ross Cimarron on sale for $120, Rhythm on sale for $150, and the Lamson Konic 2 for $129. Take your pick!

I was there looking at reels today. I found they have 2 LSR reels, brand new, behind the counter still for sale ($50) in case anyone is interested.

I looked at just about everything including the Konic. The reel I was most impressed with is the SR, incredible smooth bearings (spins a dozen times without stopping and a huge carbon fiber/steel drag with a nice range, and somewhat light. The 5/6 is on sale for $80 on their website which I find it pretty hard to beat. I'll probably be picking one up tonight.

Still working on the rod...what a decision, I guess I just need to grab something and realize that it is all about getting on the water :D

I asked the guy at the shop about the Scierra sweep and he said the blank is the same as the Scierra IC3 (or maybe the Ferox is the same as the IC3, anyway they are both under $200)

They push the LST rod alot to, which I have heard many good things about, and not just on this forum...

I'd like to get my hands on one for my 5 wt. Passed up the opportunity at the Cabelas in St. Louis.

I went with a TFO TiCrx 9ft 5wt and a Cabelas SR1

I did some reading about the comparison between the TiCr and TiCrx and the X is supposedly a hair more capable for a delicate presentation (more progressive taper on the X as opposed to tip flex on the TiCr, don't know how true this is) but either way I guess I'll adapt. The price was really good on both.

The SR1 reel is awesome, and a great buy for $80. Very smooth and really nice drag. I can't wait to use it.
