Micheal Kyle
I would like to see a new way that the Trout Tournament is put on, not that the way Phil does it is wrong. I would like to have a tournament ran where it was catch and release. I have watched national flyfishing tournaments on tv and thats how they do it. It is still a two man event and one offical goes with them. They have 8 hours and each man may only fish 4 hours. They do not have to fish the 4 hours all at once it may be broken up throughout the day. At the time they catch a fish the team must decide if they want to keep the fish or not. If they decide to keep the fish it is weighed and measured and one pic taken. The team is only allowed to keep records of so many fish. Once the limit of fish is reached on paper then the team is done fishing. The team can not keep records of every fish and cull off the paper, if they count the first four fish then they are done. I would like everyones feed back on this and maybe in the future if we have enough intrest we might do one sounds fun. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways! Flysmallie
I agree, I would be more willing to fish a tournament in this format. I wouldn't even mind being an official. I could probably pick up a few pointers. Maybe we could keep Phil's tournaments operating the same way and get a new sponsor for the catch and release tournament, like Backcountry Outfitters!! By the way Michael you looked real nice on TV this morning. It would have been better if she would have just have been quiet and listened a little, but you know how that species is
loo10
Although a C&R tournement might have some merit.... PLEASE do not encourage any more tournaments on Taney. It's just a matter of time before the new Bass Pro at Branson Landing starts having them every weekend as it is. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 8, 2006 Root Admin Share Posted March 8, 2006 I tried a one-fly for a couple of years but couldn't get anyone to fish them... well a few. I'd do it again if there was interest- real interest. Had allot of people say they were going to fish but didn't. I know there's a ton of people who don't like tournaments. Had this conversation before on other forums... but there's a section of the population that likes them. They aren't commercialized- don't have any sponsors- don't make anybody big bucks- they're just fun.

Micheal Kyle
I would like to think that this style of a tournament or the one fly tournament would be a big hit. I would be willing to help alot with the tournament. I think that a 100% pay back and we could get alot of neat draw prizes. As in rods reels waders chestpacks fly lines. Phil I think that if you and I worked on this together that it would be a huge event. let me know if you have intrest. Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways! Members troutgal
Well, I fished the last two "One Fly" tournaments that Phil put on, and I have a couple of things to say. You're all right, the food is always great! Phil spent a lot of time, money and effort to make them excellent events. The bad thing...low turnout. I'm just wondering, are you guys all talk? Everyone talks about there flyfishing skills but no one is willing to put them to the test! I'm just kidding, of course...but I thought maybe I could get your competitive juices flowing. I was ashamed of the folks who said they were coming to fish the tourney and no-showed! I would not blame Phil one bit if he required some sort of advanced deposit of entry fees on a deadline before he schedules another event like this. It was a great time, got to meet a lot of new people, caught a few fish and had an excuse to bring the family down one more time during the year. I am all for reviving this style tourney, (as I don't really like to fish from a boat) so please speak up if you are willing to give it a try!
