loo10 Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 My wife just told me that she thought she heard an announcement on the news that some sewage had been dumped into Taneycomo. She may have been mistaken but I got on the forum as you'd all be the first to know..... any truth to it? loo10 Posted August 15, 2008 Author Posted August 15, 2008 http://www.news-leader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...KING01/80814008 Thanks for the link. Wonder what tributary it was being dumped in? Trav Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 The same tributary as outlet # 1, above the hatchery. Kind of makes me think twice about the trout I am eating. I think a big batch of special kool-aid for every person on the planet might do it. Until someone makes the batch, I am pretty attached to Missouri. I can't prove that with all my Iowa Hawkeye and Iowa State Cyclone garb. Born and raised in the Drake hood until I was 14 or so. And went back to attend Drake after High School I am a little attached loyalty wise to IOWA. Graduated Branson class of '87. Drake, I never finished past an associates, but both good schools by the way. Needless to say, I can bet the community directors of this serious violation won't get scolded yet alone punished. It's all about how you can buy yourself out of the trouble now a days. Not the damage you have done. They will spend money to fix the problem and get away with the neglect. Those of us that have been eating fish from thier toilets will get zero vindication. EEwwwww! "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
jdmidwest Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Another good reason for CATCH AND RELEASE. Alot of fish in alot of streams and lakes have health advisories attached to them..... "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Thompson

Of course, if you buy fish at the store from China or some other third world country, imagine what kind of water they came out of! Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 15, 2008 Root Admin Posted August 15, 2008 The only "trib" is Fall Creek but there are minor ditches above Fall Creek. The one that runs thru Pointe Royal and a couple other minor runoff ditches. But it might run into the lake at outlet #3. It can't be above outlet #1 unless it comes thru the rocks. The flow you see there is directly from hatchery raceways.

All of the runoff that goes into lake taneycomo is generally crystal clear. The water out of Fall Creek, Roark Creek, and Bull Creek are all really clear even on into the summer months. When I was I kid I used to wade Turkey Creek as well the other three. I didn't think much of it then, but the water clarity and the amount of algae that grows in that creek is far different from any of the other three. just my two cents, and like Lilley said anything above fall creek is unlikely Troy Gregg
