Managed deer hunts?

I could manage 20 bucks a year off my deck.

How silly.

I don't hunt deer here in the ozarks, they taste all nutty and they are not of the fat index that I like. I prefer my venison from Iowa or Nebraska. Even Kansas has the fat ones.

If you want a little 100# 8 pointer, I can give you a few dozen. In fact, I will be glad to show you where to kill them. My dog has them all figured out.

Thanks for the offer, but I got plenty of spots  Never thought I would say that  Just a reminder for the less fortunate.I have to swerve my truck all the time just to go to work.Have to stay on your toes to drive at night around here.I did apply to Swan Lake, big bucks there. With only a 3% chance to get drawn I wont get picked, but will add a point to my record, thus increasing my odds.My stratagy is to build points and go for the harder more desirable hunts.

Thanks for the information. It's getting that time of year again.

Good luck on the Swan Lake drawing....you'll need every bit of it you can find. Almost 2000 people send in for 50 spots in that place every year.

Six of us sent in for the Peck Ranch archery hunt again this year. It's had a 98% draw rate last year so I'm sure we will get drawn again. I'd like to send in for some harder hunts, but I enjoy going on a hunt every year so I just keep sending in for that one.

There's some big racked deer down there that's for sure. Only problem is, they might score 150" and only weight 120 pounds. They definitely aint like those corn fed Iowa deer in body size or taste.

Yea ,good luck with your hunt Seth.I know that Peck Ranch should hold big deer.Vast timber stands, remote hardwood forest, best left for a younger man. :P I have about 1500 acres to hunt on around here for deer and turkey and a 500 acre lease in north Mo. for birds and deer.My boys and I shoot only what we can eat so the shoot three doe or shoot a doe,tag it,so you can buck hunt just dont appeal to us.The whack'em and stack'em day's for me are pretty much over.I'd much rather enjoy a quality buck hunt and go home empty then to have to let a trophy buck pass to shoot a doe.We do harvest 3-4 does a year on our farms, just cant eat that many more.

Anyone had any luck and pictures from the 1st (i believe) managed firearms hunt in Weldon Springs last year (2011)? The antler-less only one? I went 2 of the 3 days (had school the last day, which was Monday), and had no luck. Just wondered what the deer that did get shot looked like.
