I propbably caught close to 12-15 fish.. it started good Right.. went home about 10am.... saturday night.. hit the water about 9:30pm and met a couple of guys.. we join up and head to the big hole (to many cars ... maybe 4 at outlet 1) I started with an olive pine and changed pretty often... It was because I was catching.. I just want to see what all they would take in the moonlight.. this is a list of what i caught them one... ( at least 3 fish per fly).. Pine squirrel.. olive, black and Natural (both beaded and not) the bouface.. olive ... they didnt touch the black bouface.. the PMS slow fishing.. but caught the most of the bigger fish... (5 fish over 16inches) Other flies that caught a fish or two.. rainbow (w/2 tone strip) mohawk (2) tan rabbit sculpin (1). we decided to head to the cars for a break... well I put the PMS back on and headed toward 1.. well after about 10 minutes.. Dawgsquat Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 That's a beauty. Enjoyed fishing with you, Leonard. And thanks for the sculpins. It's all fun and games until someone loses an eye.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 18, 2008 Root Admin Posted August 18, 2008 Nice- the blood on the lip is from your hook up or someone's else? It's not going to end up on your grill is it?
Members jefly77 Posted August 18, 2008 Members Posted August 18, 2008 I fished up past outlet 1 near the wire last night for about 3 hours from 7:30 - 10:30 with my spinning rod. Caught about 20-25. Nothing huge but a few went about 18". Real healthy looking fish. Took me about 20 minutes to find the right lure. A small black and silver sinking storm minnow was what they wanted, and they were just killing it. Missed about 10 more due to the fact that I have smashed the barbs down on all my lures to facilitate easier catch and release. I'm still pretty new to the area, just moved to Nixa in July, and I have been waiting almost 2 months for the corps to stop releasing water nonstop. Great fishing, can't wait till the fall. Jfly

Leonard Posted August 18, 2008 Author Posted August 18, 2008 yes ... she bled pretty good. I dont think I have seen a corner hook bleed so much.. But I did release her and checke back a few minutes later and she was gone... as far as keep fish that size.. YUCK!! in my own opinion... trout over 23in (out of Taneycomo)..... taste like mud (crap).... NASTY.. besides... I still have a couple of eyes in the freezer http://www.taneycomonights.com

Enjoyed the fishing down at the big hole...finally the water was down. I switched flys a lot and caught a few on just about everything I tried. Bob used the olive pine sql. (that you tied) about 50 yards down from #2 at 4am and caught 4 browns in 30 minutes that were all in the 20+ range. I caught several right at daylight between the rebar and the big tree in the water on a #16 black zebra midge....then the horn blew at 7... George and Bob had a great time, thanks for talking to them. Gary
