I second the Mexican restaurant on the Branson Landing. Very cool!

We have been to Candlestick a number of times over the years. In fact, it was nine years ago last week that I proposed to my wife there. That being said, sometime between last November and this June, they changed ownership and my wife and I were both really disappointed in both food and service. Don't get me wrong, it is still a nice place, but they lost a star in my book.

Personally, steak is one of those things that I think you are better off cooking for yourself if you want something really good.

On 165 just up the hill from Fall Creek Resturant is a place called Odee's. A steak special he has there is a large tail end of a tenderlion which he angle cuts on which makes it melt in your mouth tender.I think he calls it a tender cut steak. It goes for around $11.00 and comes with a salad and a potato or side. Also I had a very good steak with Deaddrift at the Cattle Company on the Landing. A little more pricey but gooood.I also have to give a plug for Famous Dave's BBQ on the Landing.Their St. louis style ribs are the best (tasty & meaty) I have ever had. I can't eat a full order even when I' hungry.Good luck wherever you go. :P

montanna mikes on the strip purdy hard to beat and reasonable.

In July took family and ate at Montana Mike's on hwy 248, had large ribeye and was very good, tasty and not too expensive, went back last weekend and ordered smaller ribeye and wasn't very good (not seasoned as well and tough-not a good cut) so I don't know (service was good though)...son-in-law had a chicken fried steak good size and I believe he thought it was very good.

I've heard about the Mexican place at the Landing but not tried it.... yet...

Pricey leaves out Ocean Zen and Radizzo in Springfield, but both excellet...

Candlestick is a good choice, but Montana Mike's is pretty good and less expensive.

Go to Harter House and buy a couple of steaks and bring them over to Michael's and have him fire up his grill for ya.... He'll even provide the beer!!! AND the fried Crappie!!!

What's that place by the gas station there on 76 that has hotdogs and burgers? GREAT dogs and burgers... It's right by a chinese place if I remember right...

Can't believe someone hasn't mentioned JL's place- Fish House at the Landing. Our favorite place to eat.

Dana's is good. Need to try Two Fat Daddy's.

I still haven't found a good steak here.

Mexican- the Gourmet place on the Landing is the best. Elenita's is a close second in Hollister.

Mazzio's best pizza.

Dana'a is good, but Two Fat Daddy's is more of a K.C. style. I see Dana's as Burgers and then BBQ, TFD's is all BBQ and one of the guys worked up here in KC for years for one of my favorite local joints; Oklahoma Joes. Some might say that I am biased, but I let my taste buds speak for me, not my loyalties.

If you want a good steak on the cheap, take a tri-tip, yes tri-tip, season it with McCormicks Spicey Montreal Steak Seasoning. After placing it on the grill, with a piece of hickory of course, drizzle a saute of butter and minced garlic over the top of it, but wait till the last few minutes on each side to drizzle the saute to avoid burning the garlic. It doesn't get any better. Now of course this is on the cheap, but good. If you want to go all out, do it on a ribeye. I've found the tri-tip to be a nice piece of meat for a reasonable price.

Well;

From the number of replies I got, I'd say you guys enjoy eating as mucha s fishing, and you probably do more eating.

We will check out several of the suggesitons. Being in town for 4 days gives us that luxury. The places at the landing make it easy as we hit the landing almost every day. I imagine it has chaged a lot since our last vivist.

Speaking of that, the last time we were down they were building a resyaurant on the water. Is it open? Did someone mention it?

I like the idea of leaving the water and finding a good place for lunch that undertands that you have been fishing. I will use mapquest and check out the direction tio your suggestions.

Don't stop there, I still need that place for crappie!

Is the Fish House the one built on the water?
