Fished out in the DAM area again today found fish very very shallow in the 4 - 8 foot range early and also in the mid afternoon for the smallies and alittle deeper for the spots. All fish today and yesterday came on a 1/2 ounce PB&J football jig and 1/2 ounce hulla grub crawled along the bottom slow. Fish were not bitting at all just swiming away with the bait, so be ready.

Start fishing early right at or before sun up, fish are feeding best for the first hour or so. Start by fishing main lake points, but go up shallow on them, after fishing the point side really good then move over to the flat side of the point, fish are on both sides but more action on the flats up shallow. Look for flats that are close to main lake points fish are really feeding on them. Go have some fun, I'm taking a long awaited weekend off.

Good Fishing Everyone.

I cant wait to get there and dive some of that for you all so we can see where the fish are, what they are feeding on and what times of day. If you tap on your tank with your dive knife, the big bass rush you as that is the signal for someone wanting to FEED them hahahhha.....wife had her mask knocked off in the confusion. Have seen some big BIG bass diving there.

As always, thanks for the great report.

Any one care to speculate on the unusual ( for TR ) shallow activity and location of the bass this year ? Dissolved oxygen shortage at greater depths...location of food ???? Maybe something to do with extreme high lake levels ? Sure makes taking the kids and Grandkids out a lot easier and more fun for them. B)

I think it's because they have had a pretty constant current in the lake since March or April. Holds the fish shallow, ready to feed on the points and makes the thermocline a little less distinct maybe.

I totally agree with the constant current. You could almost tell in years past when the current started up, because the fish did too. You could tell when they closed the gates too, because the fish went to sleep.
