Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted August 23, 2008 Root Admin Share Posted August 23, 2008 Bill and I hit the water about 2:20 and docked at 5:30 today. We took our fly rods, tied on dry flies and agreed not to change. We didn't. We started below outlet #1 on the hatchery bank and work that bank down past big hole. Saw some huge browns working some slack water but as we were enticing them with our big stimulators, a gentleman with a kayak came drifting down- the only problem he wasn't on top of his boat. He was having trouble- to say the least- so we plucked him from the water and took him back up to where he put in- he called it a day. We drifted back down the same bank- I caught one nice rainbow just below #3. Our brown spot was over ran by someone in a boat so we traveled on down the bank, picking up a couple more rainbows. We drifted thru the cut in the island above lookout on the opposite side and fished the flooded grassy area. Bill caught 4 right off on some kind of elk hair caddis- I'll let him tell you the name. We finished by drifting down half way to Fall Creek with no action. 10 fish (9 trout and 1 blue gill). No fast and furious but alot of fun. The water was really too high to fish dries- I like it slower and lower- but you take what you can get. Bill said don't take it yet- you know I had to. His best side. He said this fish looks like me... sorry I don't see it. Leave it to Bill to cut half the fish out of the pic... never trust him with a camera, esp a video camera.
