bigredbirdfan
To quote bigredbirdfan, "Sources other than blogs please. Real facts." In each case, the personal income taxes paid by "the rich" increased when their tax rates were cut. from the following article: http://www.mackinac.org/article.aspx?ID=
soggyfeet
I dont know why a flat 23% income tax wouldnt work. I dont care if you make 5 billion or 25k a year 23% across the board is fair no matter how you look at it. Sure the rich will complain that they pay more than the rest but they dont have to worry about putting food on the table each night do they. Welfare, social security, and unemployment are nothing but drains on the U.S. I know that some people on here are on social security and have planned on that for their retirement so I'm not saying thats bad but in todays world we the younger generation have been drilled to same for retirement. Most companies today have some sort of retirement plan. Social security was a good idea 50 years ago but isn't needed to day. It is used today more as a piggy bank for Washington. Welfare and unemployment are one in the same. MY feeling is that if you dont have a job go get one the papers are full of them. If they dont pay what you want take it anyway untill you find one that pays better. I also think that since we have these government handouts that some sort of work should be done in order to recieve and drug tests should be performed. I have seen alot of roads, streams, parks and other areas littered that government employees have to pick up. As far as I know this is a pretty easy task that could be performed by the vast magority of Americians. There are several other tasks that need to be done that shouldnt have to be taken care of by the state employees, why not give these to those without jobs so they may earn their checks instead of waiting for handouts. I relize that people on have have been laid off or lost their job for some reason or another. I also have been in this situation several times and only once have I filed for unemployment and I felt guilty about it the whole time. I was young the first time and scared the Union would get mad if I went and worked non-union. Now I dont give a rats what the union wants cause I now know the only thing they care about is the dues not about the workers anymore. I have one main goal when I go to work and that is to EARN a living for my family. I dont want the government giving me anything. I know I got a little of the tax topic but the TV is stuck on the evil CNN right now and it is very irritating. Brian
