Members RWR12 Posted September 1, 2008 Author Members Posted September 1, 2008 You need to know if you have to be Coast Guard approved to guide by boat with motor. Many places such as Tanneycomo, and Table Rock require this. The Water Patrol is on the look out for people guiding with out proper lic. I am aware of a few individuals who are not Coast Guard approved, and the Water Patrol is watching and waiting. There's my 2 bits. Good Luck. I was woundering what a guide charges a day.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 1, 2008 Root Admin Posted September 1, 2008 You do not need anything from the USCG. Nothing really that I know of except good insurance.
Bman Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I would listen to Mr Lilley! Was just my 2 bits. Thanks for your input Phil. The only good line is a tight line
jdmidwest Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I believe that there is a fee and certification to guide on a National Park Service river. Check with either Sam Potter or Brian Sloss to confirm. Sam guides on the upper Current, posts reports on here, and has a website http://www.tightline.biz/index.htm. Brian runs Eleven Point Canoe, posts on here, and has a website http://www.11pointcanoe.com. "Life has become immeasurably better since I have been forced to stop taking it seriously." — Hunter S. Members RWR12 Posted September 2, 2008 Author Members Posted September 2, 2008 Thanks, I really don't know how to get started.
Members RWR12 Posted September 2, 2008 Author Members Posted September 2, 2008 I would like to know what to charge for a 8 hour day with a fried catfish lunch. I fish for smallies and goggle eye. I mainly use plastic baits but I can use live bait. I could even set someone up on a gravel bar with a tent for a little night fishing for carp, drum, redhorse, or buffallo.
