laker67 Posted September 10, 2008 Author Posted September 10, 2008 I belive that when you buy you license you should have to sign something stateing you will read and KNOW the regs for the body of water you fish. That way they cant say they didnt know as an excuse. I found this in the "Missouri Fishing Regulation". Quote: Accepting a permit means that you agree to observe all the rules of the Wildlife Code.

I will point out that I am a college graduate and this code is large, detailed and somewhat difficult to understand at times. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for others. So therefore they don't try to understand any of it. The don't give a blank attitude.

bigredbirdfan Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Ignorance is no excuse to break the law. We need enforcement. Jail time and heavy fines will educate! Ignorance is not what I am referring to. It is the complication of the code.
Amish Bill Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Trav: Get out the calendar and mark today....I agree whole heartedly with you, hire more agents, throw the book at these people that think the rules don't apply to them. "Life's too short to fish with a dead minner..."
Trav Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 The code isnt complicated Red. I have talked to tourists that know the law better than most us natives. It is ludicris that someone can't read a sign yet alone a code book. I keep a copy of the wildlife code next to my remote. Read it during commercials. It is just black and white. Simple english. The cold hard truth is that there is an eliment of our society that don't give a dung. I say put a full time guy on the lake. Covering not just the upper but the lower as well. Not to play traffic cop either. To adimently go after those fishing. Creel checks and license checks. We start putting some people in jail, they might think twice. Take my word for it, Taney County jail has really bad food. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
back2roots Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 I also agree with TRAV.....There's a new jail in Taney...plenty of room! The code, not that hard to understand. The HUGE signs posted all over the lake...even easier to understand. As to some peoples attitudes that the regulations are only suggestions......I guess sometimes you just can't fix stupid! Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!
bigredbirdfan Posted September 11, 2008 Posted September 11, 2008 Take my word for it, Taney County jail has really bad food. It is a brand new jail. Not sure if the food changed The balony sandwiches at Greene County are nothing special either . I agree it is an enforcement issue and if they would quit buying up private land and spend some money on agents the streams and lakes would surely benefit. By the way I'm not to sure that true poachers give a darn about trout in Taneycomo. I have been to community fish frys that I am pretty sure had been taken above possession and dailey limits and trout was not being served.
perchjerker Posted September 12, 2008 Posted September 12, 2008 Don't forget we are the first line in the poacher problem.I met a guy cleaning fish one day as he bragged about regs. aren't for him. He was catching trout out of the trophy area with power bait. Two days later he was whining about the large fine he paid when he was caught red handed. I wonder how they knew his pontoon boat numbers and where he would be fishing???
