Fishhand Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Hint Time Who has NEVER spent a night in the Govenors mansion becasue his wife HATES downstate IL? Who flies, on the taxpayers tab, to Springfield from Chicago to work? Who was elected by the Daley machine to promote Upstate IL? WHo decided that the minimium wage in IL needed to be one of the highest and fastest growing int he free world? Who tied up the budget to get a bad health care plan forced down the throats of the businesses in IL (unsuccessfully) Who shut down the state in the process? Who had casued the peole south of I-80 to considerer seceding from the satte to form the "Real State of IL?" Who lives in an area that can turn out 109% of all registered voters to vote in an elections? Who make it almost impossible to run a small business in the State of IL? WHo's lack of tort reform has driven many of the doctors out of the state to rpotect themselves from hugely inflated insurance costs? Nope, I am not bitter at all. LMW I'll make a guess! Barrack HUSSEIN Obama!
jjtroutbum Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 I'll make a guess! Barrack HUSSEIN Obama! Nope but the junior congress man for Ill is part and party to the same political machine. Fishhand Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Nope but the junior congress man for Ill is part and party to the same political machine. I guess I have no idea who LMW was talking about. Just made a guess. I don't follow Illinois politics. Some of those statements sounded pretty far fetched. Speaking of political machines. I'm wondering, does anyone know if Sarah Palin was McCain's first choice for vice president? Or, was it someone like Lieberman? Did he choose her strictly for political reasons?
LostMyWife Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 A bit off the subject. Someone brought up our pain in the butt govenor, and I decided to vent. same party, same political machine Same geographic area I was hoping Obama would pick good ole Rod B as his running mate. thenm we get rid of both of them if they win. Yes, I'm That Guy
Don Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Several people on here have said not to listen to the TV, radio, or the newspapers, but to listen to the canidates them selves. One thing everyone needs to remember is that listining to the canidates is probally the worst source of information. They will tell you what the voters want to hear. If you really want to know who to vote for (and it looks like alot of people have plenty of time on their hands) go look at both canidates voteing record for the duration of their time in congress. That will tell you where they stand. I understand that McCain has been there for 20 or so years so it will take awhile but obama only has a few months under his belt and shouldnt take to long. I was amused about a poll result that was mentioned on the news the other day. It stated one candidate was leading the other about 4%. The reporter then stated there was a 3-4% error so that made the race a dead heat. I'm sick and tired of these spinners. Margin of error means error could result in both directions, therefore, resulting in either a dead heat or 8% lead for the candidate . Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
LostMyWife Posted September 15, 2008 Posted September 15, 2008 I guess I have no idea who LMW was talking about. Just made a guess. I don't follow Illinois politics. Some of those statements sounded pretty far fetched. I wish they were far fetched. We spent over $600K to fly this clown to work. Our minimium wage is now $7.75, placing us in the top 5 I believe. The state was held hostage while he tried to get businesses with more than a certain number of employees to pay for health care for all employees. The guy is a joke. We are sending the wrong clown to Washington. Yes, I'm That Guy
mosouthpaw Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Meet the new president same as the old president.... No matter who you vote for... Ill boil it down to character... Obama was the only no vote on a bill in Illinois that prohibited medical aid to an aborted baby born alive. Im not going to discuss the A word, but the simple truth is he refused to help someone in need regardless of the "odds it would happen"
Thom Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Yeh here is a good record of voting????????????????????????????????? Congressional record. April 2006: McCain was one of only 13 Senators to vote against $430,000,000 for the Department of Veteran Affairs for Medical Services for outpatient care and treatment for veterans. March 2006: McCain voted against increasing Veterans medical services funding by $1.5 billion in FY 2007 to be paid for by closing corporate tax loopholes. March 2004: McCain once again voted for abusive tax loopholes over veterans when he voted against creating a reserve fund to allow for an increase in Veterans' medical care by $1.8 billion by eliminating abusive tax loopholes. Jeez, McCain really loves those tax loopholes for corporations, since he voted for them over our veterans' needs. October 2003: McCain voted to table an amendment by Senator Dodd that called for an additional $322,000,000 for safety equipment for United States forces in Iraq and to reduce the amount provided for reconstruction in Iraq by $322,000,000. April 2003: McCain urged other Senate members to table a vote (which never passed) to provide more than $1 billion for National Guard and Reserve equipment in Iraq related to a shortage of helmets, tents, bullet-proof inserts, and tactical vests. August 2001: McCain voted against increasing the amount available for medical care for veterans by $650,000,000. To his credit, he also voted against the 2001 Bush tax cuts, which he now supports making permanent, despite the dire financial condition this country is in, and despite the fact that he indicated in 2001 that these tax cuts unfairly benefited the very wealthy at the expense of the middle class. So there it is. John McCain is yet another republican former military veteran who likes to talk a big game when it comes to having the support of the military. Yet, time and time again, he has gone out of his way to vote against the needs of those who are serving in our military. If he can’t even see his way to actually doing what the troops want, or what the veterans need, and he doesn’t have the support of veterans, then how can he be a credible commander in chief? But now that he is running again for president he is for the veterans. Thom Harvengt
soggyfeet Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Where do you guys go to find your info on the votes? Is there a gov. site that has the hole verbage on the bill? If I'm not mistaken lawmakers can add stuff onto a bill in order to get a certian group to vote for it in congress. If this is the case I would like to see what else is on these bills that Obama and McCain have voted on to see if their was some other reason for voteing the way they did. If there is a site you go to for these let me know. I would think the only good non-partisan source for these would be .gov sites not .com, .net, and esp. not .org. Brian
Thom Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 It is in the congressional and senate record. Published by law as to the actual vote. google the bill and the date and it comes up. Interesting stuff to show how the political ideas change and memories falter just before election time. BTW not just McCains record. I only wanted to show that it is not just one sided. Like it or not you have two democrats running for president. Check the voting record not just the spin of the election rhetoric. The only republician on the ballot is Palin and she claims to be a maveric. Thom Harvengt
