Members ranger2bass
Aron Martins got a 9 there a few years back. Im goin to Amistad someday soon. Holy Cow! Anyone having luck with spinnerbaits? I guess my strategy is to find clouds of baitfish and work them thoughrally. What are the shad doing right now? scattered? schooled up? Fishing Buddy Don House Posted March 19, 2006 Fishing Buddy Share Posted March 19, 2006 Ranger2Bass, Spinnerbaits are working up the rivers I had a limit last week with a client in the heavy wind. Dirty colored water use a Chart and White with colored blades in the same color patterns worked well for us. But really there are big fish in this lake, we had clients that caught fish in the 7 to 10 pound range just last year!!! Half of them came in the spring, this one was over 9 pounds and was caught in brushy creek in April of last year she came on a split shot rig with a watermelon red trick worm.. The rest were in the late summer early fall all on spoons and drop shot rigs.. So they are there.. Also Rick and I had one that came from Taneycomo Lake that bordered on the 10 pound range, so ever lake has them you just have to spend the time to find them... My personnel best was a 8.12 black from Beardsley Creek across from State Park and a 6.0 meanmouth from in front of Big Cedar and a 6.06 smallie from the mouth of Aunts creek.. So I know they are there!!! Good Fishing Capt. Bill Babler
If Don and Rick are catching fish in the 7 to 10 lb. class, they are the ones to go with None of the rest of us can even touch that. 6 lb. smallies and 6 lb meannouth, are all near lake records. All the rest of us poor guides have a lot to learn. I would never tell anyone that I can produce those type of results as it would come back to haunt me forever. 30 years on the rock and I have only had 3 fish in the 9lb. range. Even in its absolute hayday this type of fish was extremely hard to come by. As Bobby Tindle has said to me, if you even tell someone they can expect a 5lb fish here, you are going out on an impossible limb. Yes they get caught on a simi-regular basis, but I sure wouldn't say I could come up with them on a guide trip. What I can catch and what the average client can catch are two very different things. No one can beat Bobby Tindle for large fish on the Rock and even Bobby would never tell you that kind of fish is possible. Good luck, we'll keep practicing. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
SKMO
we had clients that caught fish in the 7 to 10 pound range just last year!!! Those are UNbelievable weights for LMB on Table Rock! You 'Da Man! I have fished it since '89 and currently chase bass several dozen times/year on the upper White. Guess I have my sights set too low as I consider anything over 5# a genuine "big-un". I only have 5 over 7 in 16 years with one of those exactly 8, that being my biggest, caught on PB&J jig in May. By all means post some shots of these bad boys and girls. Would love to see pics of any TR bass in the 9 & 10 range so I can get a good look at what I am fishing for!! Fishing Buddy Don House Posted March 21, 2006 Fishing Buddy Share Posted March 21, 2006 First let me say this one thing. Bill Please do not think I'm bragging or boasting I'm not here to do that by any means nor do I agree we are better than you by anyway, You run a first class business and you get out there and work just as hard as anyone else on this lake, everyone I've talked with said they loved fishing with you, that right there speaks alot about you!! And you can say you caught 3 fish over 9 pounds on this lake. Next, We DO NOT Say we can deliver this on every guide trip, that will come back to bite you! You are right!! Sometimes I guess we just get lucky!! My point of this whole post was that there are bigger fish in this lake than everyone thinks there are! That's all and If I was taken wrong then I do apologize to everyone. Gary Martin a guide that contract's for us was the big dog who caught the really big fish in april of last year.. Rick had a two last year, I know I was with him.. The other fish, the Smallie and the meanmouth I caught in a SuperBass Tournaments one in the spring of 2005 and one in the fall of 2005, both just missed the lake records. So I know they are out there big time.. It does not matter who caught them but they all have been caught on Table Rock that is my point. SKMO check out the web site for all of the pic's.. The one on the front page was the black that Rick caught on Taneycomo last Summer, in my profile is the 8.12 I caught here by State Park.. Take a look at some of these and I will try to get a copy of the toad that gary caught and post it also.. Good Fishing Capt. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 21, 2006 Root Admin Share Posted March 21, 2006 Gentlemen, Everyone has done a great job helping those on the board with fishing questions on Table Rock as well as other lakes on OAF. I have encouraged guides with businesses to post on the board for just that reason- they know their stuff... all of them do. Posting information about their guide services is welcomed too--if offers a needed service. I know I'm speaking for everyone - thanks, guides and others, for caring enough and taking the time to post here.
Members petertherock
Hey Guys, I just wanted to tell you about the 7.25 lb largemouth I caught two years ago horsing around on my boat dock. This big 'O' sow was swimming between the dock and the bank apparently feasting on or just picking on sunfish on their nest. I caught her, no kidding, by catching a sunfish, threw him back in with plenty of hook exposed, and danced him on my line. Splash, bang she hit him and I landed her, took a picture and released her out off the end of the dock. I know the Rock has some big fish! My son 6 years ago wasn't even trying too hard, just letting his white Triple Ripple Tail trail behind the boat and he caught a 6.75lb between two boat docks. I've caught quite a few bass in the 6 to 7lb. class. There are some big fish in this lake! petertherock The majority of my fish caught have been in the 3.5 to 5lb. range.
