Bill Babler Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Took off from Kimberling City and fished from there to Big Creek. Mostly using crawlers on the deep community holes. Totaled about 20 fish with just only a couple of keepers. I threw the 1/2 oz jig, while the clients dangled. I did not have a bite all morning on the jig. Was done by noon. Tetrick said they bit much better after noon using the same methods. Surface temp is 72 and the temp at 160 ft. is 62, so these fish can be anywhere in the water colume. Lots of reports on early topwater fish and a shallow grub or jig bite. Have not explored it yet but will tomorrow. Clients said their dad was swimming a grub on flat gravel in the cow creek area and catching lots and lots of short SMJ's, lots of fish, but few keepers. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
techo Posted October 10, 2008 Posted October 10, 2008 We put in at Mill Creek. We decided to fish places we had never fished before. It was a tough day of work fishing for us. Our four keepers were mostly around two pounds. We probably caught around twenty fish too. We worked everywhere. Partner caught some on a Wiggle Wart early. Most of our fish came off of the Jewel Pro jig. I caught a few little ones on spinner bait. We put in at 7 AM and pulled out a little after 3 PM. Hope you don't mind me piggy backing off your post instead of starting a new one. I figured it was the same day. Tim Carpenter
Spinnaker Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Thanks for the reports. Techo, when I came down in May I found a white wiggle wart in a live cedar tree when the water was way up. I started throwing it and it worked pretty well in the trees. What color were you using? When I come in November I might throw that. In September, the jig and a Norman deep n worked for me. I wonder if spinner baits are good then too.
techo Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 He was using a crawdad colored wigglewart. I think the spinnerbait works whenever there is wind and blue skies. I am often wrong though! Maybe we hook up in November! I will be fishing weekends that month. Tim Carpenter
