All I want for Christmas is a pair of polarized sunglasses... nice ones ($120 to $160) such as Costa Del Mar or Smith to name a few. There are several lens options, such as amber, green or blue. What is the best for Taneycomo? The sunglasses will only be used for fly fishing. I thank you in advance for your tips and suggestions.

Action optics/smith optics make a great amber lens, that is what I use 90% of the time, my second choice

would be the light brown.

I've been wearing action optics for 30 years, and been selling them near that long, they have

always been good for me, but there are a lot of nice glasses on the market now days.

Isn't the Smith amber lens called clearwater copper?

I've been wanting to get a pair of those, but I need glasses now for reading and distance so I use progressive lenses. Does Smith do anything like that?

Thanks

The only good line is a tight line

Clear water copper and amber are different I just had new

Pair of glasses made in the amber.

They do have bi and trip focal lenses.

They may do no line style also.

Google their website and look it over.

Got my pair around June and love them. I wear progressive lens for my regular glasses but unless things have changed you have a get the line bi-focal. It was an adjustment at first, especially wading, now wear them all the time whether fishing driving or whatever. Best purchase I ever made B)

If you are using them just for taney i woulkd deff. go with an amber or copper lens. I prefer the smiths and or oakleys. I use both. Backcountry outfitters has a great selection of optics. The blue and green lenses are primarily for off shore fishing and flats fishing with high intensity sunlight and glare. The copper or amber alows you to see in lower light...this is helpful in the morning as well as late in the evening. Look for a sunglass that fits your face as well as has good protection on the sides. I prefer the polycarbonite lenses because they will not shatter if a fly or split shot hits it, on the other hand the glass lenses do not scatch as easily but they are heavier. hope you find what you are looking for.

Thank you and all the others who replied. I now know what to put on my Christmas list regarding sunglasses.

I have a pair of Action Optics with the polarized amber lens that I really like. I picked them up at the Sunglass Hut in the outlet mall for less than $40. I do have one complaint about them. They seem to react to window tenting in vehicles quite a bit. If I am looking through tint or at a window that is tinted I often see a rainbow effect. I am used to it now but it was rather distracting for the first few weeks.

One other very small complaint. Sun screen is eating the paint of the arms of the sunglasses. Didnt happen with my Oakleys, although finding Oakleys with polarized lenses was an issue when i bought them.
