Members Fletch Posted December 2, 2008 Members Posted December 2, 2008 Hello All! I'm from a little town in Northeast Arkansas which is Lake City and currently live in Jonesboro. I'm 27 yrs and new to fly-fishing within the past year and have dedicated myself to it with a sort of reckless abandon. My wife thinks I'm crazy. I've always loved the outdoors but always grew bored of typical spin casting. Then a client of mine introduced me to fly fishing. I thought that I'd really like it so I ordered an outfit and began practicing everyday. Then the day came when I finally caught my first trout at Spring River on an dry Adams. I was hooked! I've fished at least once a week since and will go more when my work and family life allow the time. I've fished mainly on the Spring and up in SW Missouri (Roaring River, Capps Creek, Hickory, etc) and look forward to hitting the Little Red shortly. I've read every book on FF and watch every video I can get my hands on. I think this will be an awesome avenue to get to know some new folks that know a lot more about it than me. I'm glad to get on here and look forward to visiting with everyone!

Terry Beeson Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Welcome aboard.... I use to live in Jonesboro and worked in Monette. Catching my first trout on a fly in the Spring River got me hooked as well. I hope that Bear Reed has already gotten you involved in the NortEast Arkansas Fly Fishers there in Jonesboogie. If not, they meet at the Nature Center once a month and then have a fly tyer's roundtable there one Saturday a month. Let me know and I'll get you in touch with Bear or one of the other members. All good friends of mine. (Watch that Dano guy... He use to be one of them "Memphis people"... if you know what I mean... ) TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
mhall02 Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Do I see a Monett (no e on the end) theme here? Went to school at Monett (grew up closer to Friestatt), caugt my first trout at RR on an 8 wt Marlin combo special and have advanced from there. Capps, Flat, Shoal and other creeks in the area were my old stomping grounds in the late 80s as a teen with a driver's license and a Ford truck. Ahh the memories.. Welcome! Welcome!!
Terry Beeson Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 You're just about 280 miles off there, dude... We're talking Monette (with an "e") Arkansas.... not MO.... Both nice places, but not near the mosquitoes in Monett, MO...
