Members 193Champ Posted December 3, 2008 Members Posted December 3, 2008 Is there still a ramp at K-Dock? Thinking about fishing BS this weekend for a change just curious if this location is useable.
Members nathan RN Posted December 6, 2008 Members Posted December 6, 2008 hey sorry this is a late post but yes k dock is oped. my dad and i fished it 2 weeks ago, you still have to drive over the hill but plenty of room to launch. there were 6 boats there the day we fished. fishing wise go to mincy, bee and bear creek and fish the chunk rock point fish a norm or strike king crank bait in any color we did best on green/ brown and red (really and crawdad colors). we caught fish on every point. most of the fish were within 15 feet of the bank but also had some takers out deep. o yea the cranks we were using were strike king size 5,6 and norm dd14, dd22. big cranks and man were are arms sore from cranking these for 6+ hours. we caught probably 45 fish between the two of us and had 8 large keepers all above 3 lbs. biggest fish was a 5 lb smallie and a 4.5 lb LM. this was by far the best day we have had on BS in a long time. i will post some pictures on here this weekend if i can. good luck 193champ
crappiefisherman Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 water even lower now, low road to ramp open but covered in crud.Lake looked good.Talked to an older gentleman about crappie fishing and he seemed lackluster at best.I may try sunday or monday......... [ [
Forsythian Posted December 7, 2008 Posted December 7, 2008 Hey Nathan, post some GPS coordinates next time, and maybe some pics of those cranks. Heck, while you're at it, you might want to take out a radio ad or somethin' Cenosillicaphobiac
Members 193Champ Posted December 8, 2008 Author Members Posted December 8, 2008 Nathan, Thanks for the report, much appreciated. I fished Sunday really struggled the water temps were down around 44-45 degrees. I did find shad on the sonar balled up in the mouths of the coves and creeks, jigging spoon probably would have done the ticket, I wasn't really prepared for that. Threw a crankbait and a football jig with little results. Forsythian, What is the big deal with sharing a little info? There hasn't been a thing reported on Bull Shoals all summer. If you think this report was detailed jump over to the Table Rock Forum and check out some of the details the guys leave over there! I didn't catch much to speak of this trip but next time I will try and mark some waypoints to share with the group.
Ham Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 It was a LOT more than a little info. That much detail is better shared via a PM. Most spots can't stand the fishing pressure that a well intentioned but overly detailed post like that one can bring. I'm always pissed when I have found fish on my own and then someone being helpful invites the world to fish the areas I found. The appropriate response would have been yes the ramp is open. powerdive Posted December 8, 2008 Posted December 8, 2008 Ham and Forsythian, in my opinion that's just ridiculous. The report was two weeks old at the time of posting. They had such a good day the young man was still excited. What on earth makes you think anyone could go and duplicate that feat (if legit) the next day, much less two-plus weeks after the fact? This is a fishing forum, after all, with the purpose of sharing information, is it not? Seems to be what's lacking, and I guess now we know why. Mike
Ham Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 Not quite crappie fisherman. The fact that the report is weeks old is the only saving grace, but the fishing pattern has been REALLY steady on TR, BS, and Norfork for the last 6-8 weeks with daily variations in depth on the same location. I'm happy they caught fish and that's cool that he wants to give all his intell away, but a PM limits the damage. With a PM, Champ just tells all his friends instead of 100's of eyes see these boards. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Forsythian Posted December 9, 2008 Posted December 9, 2008 If you think this report was detailed jump over to the Table Rock Forum and check out some of the details the guys leave over there! Yeah, that's what we need, another Table Rock! I think you reiterated my point for me. :stirrinthepot: I wasn't mad when I last posted, and I sure didn't intend to make anybody else mad. Like Ham, I just thought there was too much detail in Nathan's post. Nathan, I'm happy for your boat's success, and because of last summer's high water I believe the fishing will be well above average on BS for the next year or two. That said, alot of folks (including me) have for years happily given up a better bite on TR to avoid what we all know to be the bass-fishing equivalent of a trout park in March. Anyways, no (significant) offense intended I'll make it up to you one of these days... promise! Cenosillicaphobiac
