powerdive Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Sorry, gents. I really don't think the fishery is that fragile.
Members 193Champ Posted December 10, 2008 Author Members Posted December 10, 2008 Last rant on the subject and then I am out. The goal of a forum is to share information for the betterment of the group, did Nathan give out some info yes, was it that detailed no. Basically main lake points and crankbaits, the colors and sizes he gave out are givens for these lakes, main lake points off of creek arms are a given. Bull Shoals does not get enough traffic to affect the fishing (Bass that is, Walleye and Whites are a different deal on this lake), this lake will never get the traffic that Table Rock and Beaver get, never will. The Corp doesn't do this lake any favors either, the lake fluctuations never allow for productive spawns. The only fishing that this lake is really recognized for is Walleye and this is maintined through a stocking program. I used to love this lake 10 years ago, White Bass fishing was great, too bad everyone kept all they could catch and the population never rebounded. Have fun with your lake, I won't be back to it and I am sure the lack of information posted on this lake will continue.
Ham Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 There's no point in getting your feelings hurt about it. I jut think it was too much detail. A PM helps someone WITHOUT putting it out there for everyone to read years later. Play around with various search engines and see what you can find from old fishing reports. I'm sure the local experts could expound on the differences between Beaver, TR, BS, and Norfork but for me they fish a lot alike. I can apply some of the overly detailed reports from TR to BS and do just fine. Basically, if someone gives me a rough idea of area of the lake fished, water temp, water level and or water color along with a date stamp and a thumb up or thumb down sucess wise. I'm a happy camper. I can make a more educated decision about where to spend my day off trying to catch a few fish. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
Forsythian Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Have fun with your lake, I won't be back to it and I am sure the lack of information posted on this lake will continue. Don't go away mad, just go away! Cenosillicaphobiac
Members nathan RN Posted December 11, 2008 Members Posted December 11, 2008 I am going to address these comment individually because i have some strong feelings i will share. 193Champ, Sorry you didn't catch a whole lot the other day. seems like we all have alot more of those days than we would like. I will continue to try and give you and anyone else that want some information if I have any that is worth sharing. Always trying to help another fisher out. powerdrive, i have read you posts before and you stated it the best " in my opinion that's just ridiculous". Ham and Forsythian, I guess i can address this to both of you because you were the only two people that decided to complain. As far as i know there aren't any rules on what you can and can't post, it is a forum you know! If you guys choose to keep you information about fishing to youselves or not to share as much as i do then go for it, but don't complain about information i decide to post because it is my information to give. We had a couple great days on the water that week and i thought, hey, i bet there is someone else out there that would love to get a piece of this so i shared everything i could to HELP SOMEONE ELSE. It is in my nature and that is something that will continue. If you guys think my info was even that good you should read some of Bill's reports, haha you would really get mad then. moral of the story: i guess is quit complaining and just enjoy fishing even if you get some/alot of info from this great website.
crappiefisherman Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 COOL! Now I can be assured of my spot on the ramp.BS is really a lousey place to fish anyway.Hardley any speed boats, jet skis or screaming scantily clad babes in the summer.I stumble across a few nice dinners though.Keep up the griping guys and fight for those fish in those high seas on TBR,,,,,,,,,,,heeeeheeeheeee [ [
Wayne SW/MO Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I didn't bother to post an opinion, but maybe I should throw my two cents in also. I agree with Ham and Forsythian and its not without some history. Telling someone in person exactly where and how you caught doesn't effect your fishery all that much, but on the internet its a different story. There have been 341 views of your report, and you have no idea how many have access to you few spots. I use the term few because I'm sure that Bill doesn't give up all in his reports, he can't afford too. He does the time on the lake and has enough spots to share, and I'm sure everyone is thankful for it. The point they were making was that when you're that specific you throw the fish under the bus, because you don't know how many may converge on those spots or what they will do with the fish caught. I know that contrary to his opinion, Powerdive and his buddies don't give specifics that detailed on Walleye areas, at least they didn't in the past. There is simply a limit to the information, IMO, where you give enough information to help others catch fish, but not your hard earned fish, not deliberately at least. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
powerdive Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 I just want those darn green fish out of the way. Seriously, I agree that Nathan's report was more detailed than most--so what? I disagree that anything significant could come of it. Slice and dice the numbers a bit...add in the timing and personal factors...and it probably leaves you with nothing more than good info for some future day when conditions are just right, if they should ever come again. Of those 341 views, how many actually read the post? (Topic is a ramp question, popsted 4 days previously.) Of those, how many are interested? (It's species-specific; other people just like to read controversial threads; the majority are probably multiple viewers like us--not unique viewers.) Of those, how many have the opportunity to use the info? Of those, how many will actually go to those spots? Of those, how many have the specific capability to duplicate the feat? (Equipment, ability, technique, spot knowledge...) Add in the micro and macro climatic and water conditions, plus bait movement, plus the fact that the report was TWO WEEKS OLD at the time of posting, and I'd bet you're down to zero.
crappiefisherman Posted December 12, 2008 Posted December 12, 2008 I caught a big one by the old tree in the cove by the fence that was in 20 someodd feet of really cold water.I should have used commas in that sentance but why for?Macroclimatic huh>>>>>>arent those the purple flowers that vine up the side of ole man Kochs garage?
