Now if I can just learn how to use it... Well hurry up so you can teach me. Santa also got me a D40 but since I've been extra good this year I received it on Halloween. Kind of weird that my Christmas present came on Halloween. Not sure if that's something I should be worried about. I love that 18-55 kit lens that comes with it. I also have a 55-200mm. Is the 55-200 the VR version?
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted December 26, 2008 Root Admin Posted December 26, 2008 Great!! We need more fish pics on the forum!!! I can't even get Babler to post any of his bass pics...
Flysmallie Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 Great!! We need more fish pics on the forum!!! I can't even get Babler to post any of his bass pics... Well if I can ever catch some fish I will post some pictures. I have caught some nice fish at Roaring River the past couple of times that I was there but it was raining both times and I was terrified to carry that camera in the rain. I'm getting over that fear though. Hopefully before the end of the weekend I can post something.
Terry Beeson Posted December 27, 2008 Author Posted December 27, 2008 Not the VR yet, Ronnie... I'm gonna save my pennies for that one. I got the non-VR for $75 = $6 shipping and just got it in the mail... LOVE it. Took these with it... Just playing outside the house. Don't be too critical, these were quick shots at full auto on the camera with no tripod. This one taken with a 70-300mm Promaster TeleMacro in the 300mm Macro mode: 70mm Tele on the same lens 300mm Tele on the same lens 55mm with the AF-S 55-200mm Nikon lens 200mm with the Nikon lens TIGHT LINES, YA'LL "There he stands, draped in more equipment than a telephone lineman, trying to outwit an organism with a brain no bigger than a breadcrumb, and getting licked in the process." - Paul O’Neil
Flysmallie Posted December 27, 2008 Posted December 27, 2008 I just wondered on the VR. Mine is non-VR version as well. I just wanted to see how much difference there actually was. Most of my pictures will be volleyball. It's became real obvious that I'm going to need a really fast lens. It looks like I could probably afford a 50mm 1.8 but that doesn't give me any zoom. I'm not sure of how close I can really get. I was able to get on the sidelines for the last football game and I really struggled to get any decent shots. Of course that was about three days after I first held the camera. I'm pretty sure that I will be allowed on the floor of my daughters high school during games but I doubt I will be able to do it in other gyms. I have a while to wait on that anyway but I do have four months of club volleyball to practice. I'm not critizing anyone's pictures. It's been a struggle for me but I feel I'm getting the hang of it. Just like everything thing else it takes some time getting used to your tools. Heck I've been fly fishing now for 8 or 9 years and I still can't cast. How the heck do you do a haul or a double haul anyway. I don't have that much coordination. Hey who wants to teach me how to cast. I'll take some crappy photos of you fishing? Here's a cat that was real happy that I was taking his picture.
BadKarma Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 You guys are taking some great pics. Maybe we should all get together sometime at the dam and take a walking tour with the cameras? Maybe catch Phil or someone in the boats. Karma Don't worry about life, your not going to survive it anyway. Go fishing instead.

Ya might want to be careful of that cat, he looks kinda familiar. http://s111.photobucket.com/albums/n142/ra...rent=pinkey.flv Don't worry about life, your not going to survive it anyway. BadKarma Posted December 29, 2008 Posted December 29, 2008 Are you coming down on New Years day. Hehehe, Ronnie, I live down here. I work across the street from Stonehill Winery When the weather is nice I sometimes eat lunch down at the dam. I'm not sure I'll have a fully functioning camera then, but I might get lucky. Jan 1 sounds like it should be a nice day for a stroll. I'll let ya know over the next couple days. Karma Don't worry about life, your not going to survive it anyway. Go fishing instead.
