Ok first I am having trouble with my LCX 26c. It will come on and the Lowrance screen shows up and stays up. Any suggestions on what it could be. I plugged my 102c into it and it worked fine. Thought someone might have some insight. Buddy of mine used and left it out overnight and it got cold out, will this affect it?

Second

What is a major creek? I fished on Friday and today, caught 7 on Friday with 4 keepers and could not locate a grub or spoon bite, fished in the Baxter area. Fished today out of Big M. Caught 3 with no keepers. Only one grub fish, it was in the mouth of Carter creek. Is Carter a major creek or am I just being overly sensitive to the word creek. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The storage and operation temperature range for your unit is from -4 degrees to +167 degrees Fahrenheit (-20 degrees to +75 degrees Celsius). Temperatures below -4 degrees Fahrenheit can crack the liquid crystal displays. Damage not covered under warranty can occur if stored or used outside these parameters.

Here's a few things you can do. .......

Start with a "Soft Reset": ( soft reset does not delete GPS data )

1) turn unit off

2) press and hold the Pages key

3) press and hold the PWR key

4) release both buttons when the USA map appears

If that doesn't work then you need to do a "Hard Reset": ( hard reset deletes stored GPS data such as way points and trails that you have marked manually )

1) turn unit off

2) press and hold the ZIN & ZOUT keys at the same time

3) press and hold the PWR key

4) release both buttons when the USA map appears

How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait! rtj4bb.gif

Fishrman,

Hopefully this won't be the case with yours, but I bought a new 510c last spring and within a couple of trips it started giving me the same trouble. Both times were after I'd fished in a rainstorm. When I got home and pulled the unit off, water started dripping out of it around the screen seal. The good news is they sent me a brand new one pretty quickly.

Well that blows :o .......I always wonder if these graphs ever experenced a sealing problem, now I know.

Another cause which can lock up the opening screen happens from shutting down the unit from an auxiliary power switch other then the graphs PWR key. Always turn the unit off via the units PWR key. Performing a "soft reset" usually corrects this.

S&M great tips on the units.

Fisherman, Yes Carter is a major creek arm. The K's will suspend and occupy deep water in the creek. Also it really does not have to be anythng like Carter.

There are 2 dozen coves from Big M to Shell Knob, that hold suspending fish. Not always there, but if you look enough places you can find them. A good tip is not to just look at the mouth, but all the way back. I usually go back to about 30 to 35 feet of water and work my way out. Sometimes these fish can be pretty tight to the bottom, and hard to see. Other times suspended. Also don't hesitate to check the main lake rolloffs and humps from Big M to Shell Knob, as there are tons of them.

Viney is very good. I usually go back about to the last park ramp and then start zig-zagging my way out with the trolling motor and graph. 9 times out of I'll find them in Viney, this time of the year. It is a big creek, so be prepaired to spend an hour or two in there looking around.

I've got an LCX 18c with a similar problem. After you turn the unit on, try opening the map drawer for a second (if it has a chip installed) and closing it back. I have to do that every time.
