Mikey Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Ok, I've never fished Taney. My mother-in-law is planning a family trip to Branson this summer and I am determined to fish Taney. She is looking at cabins or lodges for up to 10 people and although I have been plugging Lilley's it seems she and my wife are set on a lodge on Table Rock. If that's the case then I will need to know where a guy can drive to that offers decent wade/bank fishing. I didn't get my summer white river trip this year due to the water conditions and my winter trip doesn't look like it's going to happen either. This will be a quick one, may only have the chance to fish one morning. I'm not looking for guaranteed fish, but where could I see some action? Mikey Each time I buy a new fly............ My wife gives me the same look........ I give her when she buys another purse... ..............................
snagged in outlet 3 Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 Go to the public access below Tablerock dam near the Shepard of the hills Hatchery. You can't miss it. Fishes the same as The White below Bull. Only with a lot more people to help you. SIO3
Mikey Posted January 1, 2009 Author Posted January 1, 2009 Is that access on the hatchery side of the river or across at table rock dam park? Tried google earth on it and it's so blurry for me. soggyfeet Posted January 1, 2009 Posted January 1, 2009 You may access it from both sides. On the South just before you get to the dam and just after the State park there is a trun off to the east. Take that past the dam overlook and down the hill you find parking lots. I think most people use the hatchery side though. As you enter the hatchery there will be two drives one going into the visitor center and the other going down to the outlets. Depending on when you go this will be crowded. If your looking for less of a crowd as you enter the hatchery follow the road to the left and take it down past the the boat ramp and there are trails that will take you down to a set of stairs to the lake. Mikey Posted January 2, 2009 Author Posted January 2, 2009 Thanks again for that info. I'll try and sneak a trip to the hatchery for the kids that way I can get a lay of the land before I grab my rod. Mikey Each time I buy a new fly............ My wife gives me the same look........ DD'sMC Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Mikey~ If the ladies are set on staying on Table Rock, have them check into the Chateau on the Lake. There's a day spa that would pamper them all day long, while you get in a day of trout fishing. It's just 2 minutes from the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery. 2 birds, one stone. Good luck!!!! We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.
