Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 5, 2009 Root Admin Posted January 5, 2009 Here's another attempt to video myself fishing... trying to show how I fish soft hackles. I posted this on the main OA page and on my facebook- actually the main page posting is really good. I used flash, which I've used before but this time for some reason it's pretty clear. Now if I can just remember how I did it!!
back2roots Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 GREAT video Phil!!!! Thank You! Blessings! Bill If you liked the sound....Thank the engineer!

Members kayaker Posted January 5, 2009 Members Posted January 5, 2009 Can you show the fly you were using and what size?
vanven Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 "It is Sunday, July 4th, 2009" Looks cold for summer time! I really like the video. I will never turn down instruction and some time from someone that spends 100x the time I can on the water. -Jerod
twosets Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Good stuff Phil In addition to a picture of the fly, we would be interested in the type of flyline(Floating, sinking) and the leader size and legnth . See you next week George "This is not Nam. This is bowling. There are rules."
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 5, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted January 5, 2009 July - January... details!! I guess my mind has to input ONE slip per video. That's the average so far. #16 black soft hackle Using 4x, 12 ft leader with about 4 feet of 6x tippet, 5 wt rod, floating line.
Terry Beeson Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Phil, You really need a good camera man to help you with those videos... or at least me... Great video. Are you going to put together a collection of them and set them to run on CCTV in each room at your place? vanven Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 I swear I posted on this thread again. The internet fairy must have stole it. -Jerod
flyfshn Posted January 6, 2009 Posted January 6, 2009 Nice Demo!! Have never fished a soft hackle. Have several that I in a fly swap, but never new how/where to fish them. Do you always fish them in shallow water, similar to what you were standing in? Would be good to discuss at the STLCO presentation on the 14th! Fish On!
