duckydoty Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 Wheatenheimer's Mini Mousie Muddler (Now this is word for word as it appears on the recipe card) Vintage 1960's era Gold #4 hook Brown or Black 6/0 thread Tail Brown Maraboo Pink Flash on each side (sparce) White Kip Tail on each side (sparce) Brown Buck Tail on top (moderate) Rib Red light guage copper wire Body Bathed and Combed Golden Retriever Body Hair Eyes Black plastic bead chain Head Spun Elk hair in a Mousie Cut Directions OK, so the hooks I picked up at a Garage Sale about 15 years ago. They were in a Ziploc. I don't know what they are. I also picked up various other fly tying stuff at this same sale that clearly dates from the '60's. I'm guessing that's the era of the hooks too!? Tie in Maraboo, Pink Flash, Kip Tail and Buck Tail Tie in Red Copper Wire Dub an inch & a half of Golden Retriever hair (if you don't have access to this material, I can provide 1 gallon bags for $.99 each. I may hve to brush out my couch!) Rib-it, keep the Kermit jokes at bay! tie in the eyes use a hair stacker to even up the Elk hair to make a nice collar Spin more elk hair, muddler style to make the head. Trim leaving Mousie ears.
