Brian Wise Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Hey guys, Was able to hit the river on the 7th. It was my first 'real' fishing trip of the year. The day set up perfect for good fishing, complete cloud cover and the water was a gorgeous green...and the fish cooperated! Had a great few hours of fishing. Caught some browns, caught some rainbows but got into a nice rainbow that was one acrobatic fish. 18" of beauty.... Brian My Youtube Channel
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted January 10, 2009 Root Admin Posted January 10, 2009 Very nice. Thanks Brian.
flyfishmaster Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 You dah man Brian. Great picture, who took it for you? Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
Brian Wise Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Actually, I took it myself. I got a gorillapod when I got my Stylus 850. It works great if you do a little practicing of taking pictures of yourself before you hit the river. Set the timer to 5 seconds beforehand, set up camera while fighting the fish (THAT is where it gets tricky, have lost a couple of decent fish while doing this...but it saves time) hit the shutter before you pick the fish up and wait on the beep...lift fish up and smile. I've actually seen it take longer for 2 people to do it. The bad thing is it can be a little tricky on the focus...that is why this photo is edited a little "funky." Brian My Youtube Channel
ness Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 Hmmm.... Gorilla pod. Hadn't thought of using one of those for this. As a matter of fact, I always kinda thought they were a stupid idea. Thanks for the enlightenment. Oh, and nice fish. John
Brian Wise Posted January 11, 2009 Author Posted January 11, 2009 Ness, They make them that will hold an SLR and also video cameras...they are pretty cool and SUPER easy to get level even on streambanks, rocks, anything. I am sold on them for fishing stuff. Brian My Youtube Channel
redbird Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Nice view of the Golden Gate Bridge, do they have one of those over the NFOW? Nice fish too Brian! Im not a Cardinals fan, but I am a Cardinal. If you know me you know what that means.
RSBreth Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 Nice fish, and good picture. Taking them yourself is kind of a trick, I haven't tried that gorilla pod, I've been using a modified table top tripod and it's O.K. but not great. I wish I could get over to the North Fork more often, but it's hard for me to get down to Taney these days, and that's just down the road.
Kyle Kosovich Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Brian, I remember that day too, was wishin I was on the river too, the weather was nearly exactly like the Satuday the 3rd when I was out for the first fish of the year. Sounds like the catching was the same too. I'll be down on the 31st if your up to some high stick'n? Later man Kyle Kosovich Boat Builder/Guide http://www.LongboatOutfitters.com
