patfish Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Had a conference call this afternoon at work... As of July 31st I join the ranks of the unemployed. I have hereby declared the month of August 2009 fish every day month. Mark your calendars!!!
Members LWD Posted January 13, 2009 Members Posted January 13, 2009 Patfish, sorry to hear that. This economy sucks to say the least, I hope you get back into the work force fast. At least you've got a little heads up, maybe you can find something else and have it ready to go, or give them your notice. Good luck.
techo Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Not sure what a LDR is. Sorry about the job loss. This economy has been scaring me and made me pretty much decide not to upgrade my boat. Best of luck....but glad you get to fish. Tim Carpenter
patfish Posted January 13, 2009 Author Posted January 13, 2009 Oh, LDR is a long distance release, since my immediate boss broke all company ethics rules by telling us 6 months before we were to be "informed" via email or some other spineless way of letting people know that they are no longer employed. Thanks Techo, preshadit. Plan on being down that way in May regardless......
soggyfeet Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Thats one heck of a boss. I would just like to have one that would give a weeks notice before layoff instead when you are headed to the truck. Brian
flyfshn Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Sorry to hear that Patfish! Good boss you have!! When I worked for GE 9 years ago, I did the same for the employees reporting to me. Hated to leave that job and the people! Had to train others in San Bernadino to take over our positions. Phil, Maybe we should start a section for those that are unemployed......could let everyone know what they have experience doing and where they would like to work. Those that have jobs could let everyone know if positions open?? I realize this is a fishing forum, but with the horrible economy, would be nice to help some fellow brothers and sisters out! Fish On! flyfishmaster Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Patfish, I'm really sorry to hear about the upcoming results for you. As you already know, I know the feel. For the rest of you to know I got laid off from Anheuser-Busch on Dec 12th. PatFish sent me a PM informing me that his company is a very large supplier to A-B, and he did not know the faith of this company because their contract with A-B was coming due in a few months. Well as faith has it, the whole ABInbev take over has just started and it seems there is not an end in site to see the entire out come and how many people will actually be effected. Sorry again Pat. BTW: To all, there is a great website already created to network, it is called LinkedIn.com Later, Kim Woo Hoo Fish On!!
rps Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Those of us lucky (and it is sheer luck as not any of us "earned" it) to be employed in safer jobs do feel for you. The wife lost two jobs, both excellent, to economic turns. The first one was particularly ugly. I know what some must feel and empathize. You have my thoughts ands prayers. Let's go fishing.
patfish Posted January 14, 2009 Author Posted January 14, 2009 Thanks for all the kind words everyone. Hopefully I will have to cancel the fish every day month in the month of August deal. I'll let y'all know when I turn things around. I've got the feelers out big time.
Danoinark Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Patfish Good thoughts coming your way and to all the OAF'ers who may be or have faced the same. My prayers to you all that you find exactly what you want and where your talents are best used. Lets all have faith that something will turn this poor situation into something that is even stronger.
