Members HillbillyJim Posted January 14, 2009 Members Posted January 14, 2009 I recently moved from that neck of the woods, and I really miss it......as far as the drunks/druggies, I never personally had any problems at the Stubblefield area, but I can see some folks making trouble down there....I personally ran in to more of that sort around the old bridge at Jenkins. Fishing, at times though, is really fun around that area. As far as trout, I and many others have caught some further upstream, most likely escapees from the Cassville trout farm. However, downstream, I heard that there may be some trout from Little Flat Creek, which I believe flows into the stream around the little town of McDowell. However, I cannot personally confirm that, because I have never caught a trout downstream from there. I need to take a day trip so I can feel a smallie tugging at my line!
Paola Cat Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Flat Creek is really a great SMB stream. I have floated from Jenkins (248 bridge) to 39; 39 to EE; and EE to the takeout just above the lake multiple times. I really like the 39 to EE stretch. Never had a problem on any of these floats but did run into some freaky dudes when taking out at EE one evening. Where exactly is Stubblefield? Is that the access above Jenkins? I put in one time above Jenkins ... seemed to me that you had to wind your way back in there. PC Cheers. PC
KCRIVERRAT Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 From what Tim's saying maybe Stubblefield is the 39 bridge? Big field there. The one guy talked about metal detecting. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS

PC Stubblefield is a Missouri Conservation access upstream from the Jenkins bridge, and quite a ways upstream from the hwy. 39 bridge....the conservation department has a brown sign on a road turning off of hwy. 248 near Jenkins, near a large rock quarry....seems like from the turn off, you have to wind back through there around 2-3 miles or so to get to the access
Flysmallie Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 It is a wonderful placed best enjoyed in the fall, winter and early spring, the drug people and drunks take it over in the summer time, it is a shame but it is a place I won't go without a gun, in the spring or summer, you might see anything. It is a great place to put in a canoe, but I wouldn't park a vehicle there. That statement pretty much covers 90% of all public stream accesses. I have never had a problem at Stubblefield, but there is always a bunch of losers hanging out. The only spot that I have run into trouble on Flat Creek is at EE. Just like always i tried to ignore the idiot as much as possible. He was just too stupid to figure it out. Until I got in my truck and tried to run over him when he decided I wasn't leaving. That woke him up and scared the hell out of him  The thing is these people are everywhere. You can't take your family to any access without the fear of a bunch trailer trash showing up and ruining the whole day. Drive down through Linden on the Finley some summer afternoon and you will see what I mean.
jay bird Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Some great wading above and below. I have never had a problem down there and seem to see a conservation officer down there about half the time that I go. Have to admit that I would think twice about leaving a car/truck there or staying much past dark.
drew03cmc Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 That water is gorgeous! Thanks for sharing Terry! Andy
