Members CKennedy Posted January 14, 2009 Members Posted January 14, 2009 I plan to head to Montauk on Monday (to honor MLK of course). I fished Meramec two weeks ago and the water was up pretty high and murky. Has anyone fished Montauk lately to see how the water is? Any tips would be appreciated too!
patfish Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Email me at work in the morning, I've got floating holidays to use...
Members jrbhc8 Posted January 14, 2009 Members Posted January 14, 2009 I fished there last Friday when the weather was nice. I would say that the stream is in good shape. Plenty Clear. I will try to post some pics of a few I caught the other day. No monsters though. I spent most of the day introducing fly fishing to one of my college friends. Needless to say it was a long day!! jrbhc8 www.troutchapters.com jrbhc8 ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ | <°)))>< | <°)))>< | | ¿ >°)))><
Members CKennedy Posted January 15, 2009 Author Members Posted January 15, 2009 Thanks for the info. Would love to see some pics! Everyone has to learn sometime, at least we will get the spinning rod out of one more persons hands!
Members jrbhc8 Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 Here's some pics. One was caught in the C&R area, the other at the spillway. That fish suprised me, I didn't expect to catch it out of there. Both fish are in the 3-4lb range. www.troutchapters.com jrbhc8 ~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~ | <°)))>< | <°)))>< | | ¿ >°)))><
duckydoty Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Nice pictures. I have not fished Montauk in several years. I should get back up that way some time. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!! Visit my website at.. Ozark Trout Runners
DD'sMC Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Looks like it was a warm day. Great pictures, good looking fish! We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.
Members Muleball39 Posted January 15, 2009 Members Posted January 15, 2009 What were you fishing with or better yet what do you fish with at Montauk. Montauk was the first place I trout fished and it has been 16 years since I fished it, will be down next weekend.
duckydoty Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I think I'd like to try a T&A rainbow there. Last time I was there, I threw pine squirrel leeches and slumpbusters and did very well, but that was quite a few years ago. A Little Rain Won't Hurt Them Fish.....They're Already Wet!!
