Fished up by the hatchery yesterday just out messing around killing some time. Fishing was fair to good and the temps were warm to start and increasingly dropped as evening approched. Started with a downsized BFE or just a little over sized egg on the flats below outlet 1. The fish loved it. I get bored real quick fishing that way so switched over to a sow bug. The fish readily accepted that also. Noticed a lot of activity on the surface so I decided to try and target those fish. I went through every soft hackle color and size I had with only a couple of short takes. Started on the crackle back and finally found the color, size and presentation that they were wanting. Size 14 cream colored crackle back dead drifted with just a few soft strips produced fish after fish. Anything else presented any other way produced zippo for me. Lesson learned....Keep changing color, size, and presentation untill you find what they want.

The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.

She was busy working

She is right, you do rock! You have her out making the money while you are fishing. Maybe I need you to help me train my wife!

Next year we should be a little more on the same schedule. You see, I think she's going to be a guide in Alaska with me this coming season, so we should both have the winter off back here in Missouri and we can both go fishing every day
