Members bcfish
Sorry about joining in late. I live fairly close and am in Neosho at least once per month. I stopped by Hickory for the first time last week and saw the trash, I was looking for the white ribbon signs and only saw one. This one sign did have the regulations on it but it was small. Every parking area should have a large sign that shows the regs. I would love to join the stream team as long as I am able to work it in with my schedule. We have a three month old and its hard enough just to get time to fish. So all of that being said I was speaking with some coworkers about this and they suggested getting the boy scouts involved in the clean up as well and possibly talking to the high school about getting some kids to help. When I was in high school we did cleanups a lot. They can get community service hours for this to put on scholarships and applications. As for the boy scouts what great fun they would have being part of this and I am sure that they could earn some kind of badge for participation. I work for a company that I also think could help in advertising as far as posting signs and such locally in Neosho. I am new to this site and not sure how everything works in the forum yet, but here is my email that I check about every other day. bcrozzb@yahoo.com. If someone would like to make contact I can give them tele and a regular e mail.
Members tgard27
Welcome to the team bcfish. This really excites me, the fact that we have a team together and are getting down to business gets my blood rushing. I know that Hickory can never be a blue ribbon stream, but this can be a stream that holds its own against other white ribbons and a stream that can make for enjoyable fishing year 'round. Does anyone think that a business would be interested in sponsoring our stream team? I know that this would take some cold calling which I wouldn't overjoyed with but I would certainly do for a good cause. I think that a sponsor would really be helpful due to the fact that we need more trash cans and trash bags! I was thinking about the trash situation and came up with some ideas. First, I think that we should ask the city if they would supply more trash cans and change trash on a more regular basis. I totally expect a big no from this question but I fell that we need to ask them anyway in order to keep the city aware of our actions. Our second option, and one that I think will be the option that we will use is to get trash cans, either from a sponsor or from a a fund that we create through a fund raiser or just us kicking in a couple bucks, and we set these trash cans down on high traffic areas. We could have a schedule where everyone picks up trash equally. Say we have 10 members to our stream team, and then we divide the trash can pickups equally like this: Person A takes week 1 Person B takes week 2 Person C takes week 3 and so on and so forth. That way we have someone picking up the trash cans every week each member having to perform trash duty once every ten weeks or so. Make sense? Comments, suggestions? The other big news for me is that I was notified that I have been accepted into Washburn Law School . I got the letter in today and had to read it a few times before it set in. Anyways, let’s keep on this stream team, we can get this done!
Flysmallie
Does anyone think that a business would be interested in sponsoring our stream team? Good luck with that one. Most businesses are cutting unnecessary expenses right now. Maybe when the economy picks up, but that might be awhile.

Members tgard27
You're right Chief; I haven't been down there since the week after the 4th of July. I was pissed about all the trash and the obvious signs of poaching, so I decided that I would rather drive an extra twenty minutes to get to Capps. Looking back on it, I think that I made a mistake by doing that, I feel that I abandoned the creek for a while. But this place is still special to me; it was the first place that I caught a trout on a fly rod. I'm going down there on Thursday, planning on walking just about the whole darn thing. The economy thing is tough, so maybe we can put that sponsorship thing on hold. I guess that puts us down to scheduling, I agree with Buzz in that we need to set a date right after the 4th of July. Other than that, I think we can schedule any other time that we feel would be prudent. One last question, does anyone else want to be a contact for the flyer?
