Just curious if anyone is doing any good in cape fair area fishing for crappie? We went again yesterday and caught 1. We have been throwing 1/16 oz with swimming minnows about every color, in 8-10 feet, and nothing. Appreciate any feedback.

Just curious as well, is anybody catching them with live minnows yet??

Unless you were out of the wind yesterday, I would tie on 2 1/16 ounce jigs. I don't think you can get down deep enough when the wind is blowing with 1 jig. Had a good bite yesterday in long creek. Yellow and black seemed to work best. Bite didnt start for us until 2:00. They were in 25 ft.

I think after this week of cold and wind, the crappies are going to be off the banks in deep water like denjac said. Look for standing trees and search for them in all depths till you find them.

Crappie, fishing is a day to day thing up the James.. Fair at best even slower sense the cold weather came in.. But it will turn back on really soon.. Swim two jigs 1/8 ounce in the wind and 1/16 on calm days.. Yellow and White, Blue and White seem to still work best.. Start looking in the deep trees in around 20 - 30 feet in the main creek channels. Slow seems to be the key, but once you find them you will load up!!

Hang in there

We have tried the double jigging as well as fishing deeper around the cover. I am guessing maybe its just this weather. I figure it should get lots better by next weekend with these projected warmer temps.
