Members LarryC Posted March 8, 2009 Members Posted March 8, 2009 What a sack...over 22 pounds. We don't want this getting out or those Table Rock boys may sneak down here. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
wily Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 ya - lots of good fish were caught mostly on a jerkbait, but also a wiggle wart, jig or spinnerbait. i even heard a couple guys caught big walleyes, and one big striper. personally, i didn't do very good but i didn't get skunked. i only had one keeper. it was a 12.5 inch ky. smallest fish weighed in i heard...but what the heck. better than a zero. i also caught two decent largemouths...but neither would stretch. i thought the tournament was well ran, and everyone was friendly...good times.
Champ188 Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Wily, Glad you enjoyed the tournament and hope you'll consider fishing some more of them. We need nonboaters. Present company possibly excluded, there are some very fine pros fishing CPA and you stand the chance to learn a lot from your partner, not to mention perhaps making a little prize money while you're at it. Again, glad you enjoyed the event.
wily Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 Thanks, i plan to fish more of them. i think i'll fish the next two for sure. Congratulations to both of you on your top 10 in the buddy tournament...good job.
Gone Fishing Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Champ, congrats to you and Donna on the tourny. Not been on Beaver all year but thinking of going down there this weekend to avoid the traffic at the Rock. Any pointers, baits, or colors would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and congrats again!

Sorry I didn't think to look up any of you guys. I had a nice pro. I only had one keeper, too. Also, a 12.5 inch spot. Are you sure your fish was the smallest? Mine weighed 1.38. Champ and I had better luck on the team tournament. I actually contributed two fat ones to the limit!
